What should Jaron Ennis do?

Post by Cent0089 »

Obviously Crawford and Spence are at top of 147 and one of best boxers worldwide. If you were Ennis or his manager. What should he do to get a fight against Spence or Crawford?

How much popular really Crawford and Spence are?

In ideal world there will be Crawford vs Spence megafight and Ennis vs Ugas in main undercard. But keep this real :maybe:

Don’t see a rush for him. Should beat the 3 best names (mabey not the best fighters) outside of the belts.

Aim for mikey Garcia, Thurman (if he wins), Ramos if he wins. Those 3 would be a good year. Then aim for belts next year.

Edit: add in danny garcia,

Ennis should fight Crawford.

Technically speaking, both are promotional and network free agents.

So there’s no political barriers.

However, Crawford wants to get paid, which means he’ll refuse to accept a pay cut to fight Ennis.

Alternatively, Ennis could try to get fights against Vergil Ortiz Jr. or Mikey Garcia, as a win over either man will propel him to be a leading contender for multiple governing bodies.

Same here.
If Boots beats up all the contenders, that only leaves Boots.
It makes Crawford look like a pussy if he only faces Boots' leftovers.

Agreed. He needs to stay active

I'd like to see Jaron Ennis take on ..... Rashidi Ellis or Josesito Lopez. A huge fight would be vs Danny Garcia.

Virgil Ortiz Jr. is tentatively scheduled to fight Michael McKinson (21-0, 2 KO's) in March. McKinson is currently ranked # 4 by the WBO.

Look a little deeper into his resume and it's a house of cards. He has fought no one close to Ortiz. If anything, I would say McKinson is being placed on the alter for Ortiz. An unbeaten pillow fister with an equally fluffy resume. Wonder what they are paying McKinson for his "0"?

There’s nothing this kid can do. It’s more up to us fan to ring the bell for him. That’s the only way fights get made these days. Promoters get hit with the noise and then feel as though the fight HAS to be made.

If Boxing was an honest and on the up and up type of sport, talent like Ennis would get their due for their incredible performances. But we will never see those days.

Based on the rumour-mill:

1) Jermell Charlo faces Brian Castano.
2) Jaron Ennis engages in a final eliminator.
3) Errol Spence Jr. unifies against Yordenis Ugas.
4) Jermall Charlo vacates his WBC 160lbs title and makes the jump to 168lbs to face Canelo.
5) Jermell Charlo makes the jump to 160lbs (regardless the result of the Castano bout) to challenge for the WBC’s vacant world middleweight title.
6) Errol Spence Jr. vacates and makes the jump to 154lbs.
7) Jaron Ennis is either declared the new IBF champion at 147lbs (based on him becoming the mandatory challenger after winning a final eliminator) or challenges for the vacant title (depending on the IBF's rules).

That would be great for him, but really doubt if Thurman takes it, assuming he wins. Crawford wants his scalp.

Jaron 'Boots' Ennis Files Lawsuit Against NOW Boxing, Seeking Release And Judgment In Excess Of $1,000,000

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is locked in for his next fight.

Unfortunately for the unbeaten IBF welterweight titlist, it will take place in a courtroom rather than the ring.

Boxing Scene has confirmed that Philadelphia’s Ennis has filed a three-count lawsuit against NOW Boxing, claiming breach of contract. The case was filed on February 7 with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where he seeks declaratory relief to void his current agreement with his estranged promoter and a judgment in excess of $1,000,000.

The heart of the complaint is focused on Ennis’ gross inactivity in relation to the number of bouts promised from a signed agreement he entered in 2019 with NOW Boxing. The four-year agreement called for Ennis to fight four times each in years one and two of the agreement, and three times each in the third and fourth years.

Ennis has fought just ten times in more than five years since he signed with NOW Boxing, which was previously run by Cameron Dunkin prior to his passing earlier this year. The company is now run by Kellie Dunkin, Cameron’s widow whom Ennis and his legal team cite as not having any experience in that realm.

Furthermore, the complaint alleges that Ennis was not offered any fights by the company since his tenth-round stoppage of Roiman Villa last July 9 in Atlantic City.

“During the Term of the Agreement Plaintiff has been ready, willing, and able to participate in the number

of Bouts specified in the Agreement and has made Defendant aware of his willingness,” attorney Arnold Joseph argued on behalf of Ennis in the official complaint, a copy which was obtained by Boxing Scene. “[Y]et, Defendant has only given Plaintiff the opportunity to participate in the following number of bouts:

Year 1 – 3 bouts

Year 2 – 2 bouts

Year 3 – 2 bouts

Year 4 – 1 bout

“To date, Defendant has not advised whether Ms. Dunkin or Defendant is a licensed Promoter. Plaintiff avers that Mrs. Dunkin has absolutely no experience promoting professional boxing events. Plaintiff’s last bout took place on July 8, 2023. Defendant has failed to offer any bout opportunities since that date.”

According to the complaint, Ennis was informed via official letter on January 15 that Kellie Dunkin assumed control of NOW Boxing. The notice was provided 13 days after Cameron Dunkin’s passing.

Ennis’ team acknowledged in the complaint that the 2019 Agreement carried a clause that provided NOW Boxing the unilateral right to extend his contract in the event he won a major title. Ennis was elevated to full IBF welterweight titlist from his prior interim status after Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford failed to honor the terms of an ordered IBF title consolidation bout last year.

The development has not at all helped Ennis’ ability to land a fight of any kind, significant or otherwise.

Ennis won two separate elimination bouts to position himself as the mandatory challenger to the IBF title previously held by Errol Spence. He was provided the chance to fight for the interim title, which his team viewed as an insurance policy in the event he wouldn’t get a shot at the full champion (Errol Spence at the time prior to his July 29 knockout defeat to Crawford). Ennis won the belt in a lopsided twelve-round decision over then-unbeaten Karen Chukhadzhian last January 6 in Washington D.C. His aforementioned win over Villa was the lone defense of that title.

The legal matter comes four years after Ennis was in a dispute with Chris Middendorf and Victory Boxing, who previously partnered with Dunkin but whose relationship with Ennis became fractured following their split.

Ennis claimed at the time that his relationship with Middendorf was through Dunkin, and that he was prepared to follow the latter out the door following the split between former business partners. Middendorf argued—in private and through the legal system—that a binding contract remained in place, with the dispute threatening to put Ennis’ promising career on hold.

The case was settled in June 2021.

Ennis’ team seeks a jury trial for its complaint versus NOW Boxing, while he remains without a confirmed fight date. The complaint alleges that his livelihood is impacted by the promoter’s actions—or lack thereof—to progress his career.

“By reason of the foregoing, a justiciable controversy exists between adverse parties, which involves a

substantial legal right of Plaintiff-to wit the right to engage in his chosen livelihood and earn a living; and

Plaintiff therefore seeks a Declaratory Judgment that the Agreement is void ab initio,” noted Joseph on behalf of his client. “Plaintiff seeks an order and judgment in favor of Plaintiff and against Defendant declaring

that the Agreement is void.”

boots activity is really bad, and it sucks waiting for spence vs craw 2.... boots needs to fight often to be undieniably deserving of craw next , but whats happened has happedned, moving fowards.

I think fight barros... become unified interim title holder.... do that quick... like now.

Then right around the time of spence vs craw 2 you need to draw a favorable comparision to one of them.... so 2 options stand out...
Egidijus Kavaliauskas: go hard early, try smash him up within 6, say your better than craw, and call for undisputed...
Danny Garcia: smash him up, stop him, claim your better than spence, and deserve the craw shot....

gotta make craw need to fight you, otherwise he is going to 154 next...

Boots could take on Virgil Ortiz, at 154. That'd be very interesting.
I think that Crawford-Spence II would very likely be at 154, """IF""" they ever have the rematch.
Boots """Could""" also probably call out the winner of Tszyu-Thurman as well, and that'd be very interesting, especially if Tim wins against Keith, in they're upcoming bout at 154.
"Boots Ennis" obviously has plenty of size for success at 154. He's a couple inches taller than "Crawford".
His speed shouldn't get affected At 154 either. The only difference would be Having more PoP in his punches.
