I hope garry loses. his carrer has absolutly bored me to death. wouldent be shocked if he retires either way, not like he likes being active and his hand is fuked...

Yeah, but unfortunate for anyone to lose because of injury. Russell would've won this with two hands.

now that makes perfect sense, and is exactly what you'd think, but funny enough i thought he was also losing before the injury

once he got injured he started boxing more cautious , maybe playing to his strengths more? but it did look like he started to especially have issues with it in the second half

mags just seems a bit robotic and unimaginative imo. he just throws a shot or two, then has to reset. and repeat. no real upping the pace either.

that said, congrats on the big win

If he could've controlled the distance he might have stopped him. Should've pressed the action after the injury and he just didn't.

No sympathy for garry russ in this case. Claims to come in hurt, then recons he gave a boxing lesson... dont like the attitude, especialy coming from someone famously inactive.... No need to give him a rematch (unless he gets very well compensated).

Sounds like denzel washington which is a laugh....

I didn't know GRJ was the longest reigning champion. What's further crazy that I think his best win was Jojo Diaz during all his defenses. What a lackluster champion for sure, especially when the division was stacked for a bit.

I sensed an upset, but not through injury.

one thing noticable about the longest champion list......was a lot of guys who have very low activity rather than a lot of high quality defenses. basically guys sitting on the belt

Lol at that ‘longest reigning’ stat. That’s a lot more achievable if you fight once a year!

Anyway, hopefully this is the last we see of Russell

I hope not. I was ringside when he knocked out Jhonny Gonzalez in the 4th round. Trust me .... it was great!! I'd like to see Russell Jr back in the ring within 5 months. But, I do wonder, does he still have the hunger?? Another long layoff would be unacceptable.

Magsayo looked quite good in the first 2 rounds with his variable right hands. After Russell went one-armed, he made Magsayo miss more. Eventually, Magsayo simply outworked a one-armed opponent. It didn't look that impressive.

pretty much this. it was funny that gr started doing better with one arm, although he eventually faded and mags rightfully won it

It's good for the sport of boxing that Mark Magsayo won the title.

He may not be a great talent, but he likely won't hold the belt hostage like Russell did.
