Manny Pacqiou vs Pipino Cuevas

Post by zuru »

15 rds Welterweight
1 punch from Cuevas and no doubt he can end it ,definitely if Marquez could .
But could he land it?

Pacqiou is very very fast and very hard punching himself. Up til Hearns,Cuevas had a granite chin. But it's always the punches you don't see that get you. And Pacqiou is definitely coming in from all angles not just your (un) usual southpaw angles.

I will say Pacqiou wins a decision, unless he gets caught later and ko'd

Manny TKO9. He’d be too fast and active for Cuevas. A Cuevas left hand could take out anyone at 147 but I see Manny beating him into submission

Prime pre-Hearns Cuevas, can't see it. Manny wouldn't be able to outfight him, and he was not the Starling-Hearns-McCrory type boxer to do Cuevas in.

LOL, didn't have Green's chin either. And at some point, if Pipino catches him, will he get up? I could see Manny winning up to ten or eleven rounds, but if this is a fifteen rounder, I feel sorry for him.

Good Points. But,..Manny would be just too swift and elusive. Cuevas would have his moments early on,but...
The styles make fights factor would most definitely come into play.
Randy Shields was basically technically Robbed vs Cuevas. That bout should've been ruled as no better than "A Gift Draw" for Cuevas. Shields was tough and awkward. He was a hot and cold type, sort of like Henry Cooper, except, lacking the punch but exhibiting unique defensive abilities, sometimes Alot better in one bout than another.

I see Manny winning a decisive decision in this one. He would be obviously Highly Respectful of the Power that Cuevas generates,But not intimidated, or GunShy,as they say. He'd actually probably come close to getting a Tko,several times, but remain content to just basically "Give a Clinic", as the saying goes. :geek:
In a potential rematch scenario,I think that Manny Would get the Tko,somewhere between rounds 8-10.
Manny's reflexes and elusiveness would be ultimately the prevailing proverbial factor. :box:

Both you and Margaret make smooth points, However, Cuevas didn't have ordinary power. Pacman could win. But just can't see him surviving if caught.
