Audley
Has anyone noticed him going for it on Twitter the last few days? I thought he must have been hacked but apparently not. He's shot through. He's going on IFL later.
Re: Audley
Just had a look. You're not wrong! I wonder what his issue with Froch is.

Re: Audley
All very odd, not sure if he's on a wind-up, trying to talk himself into an exhibition fight for big money or has had some sort of breakdown.
He did talk about CTE issues back in 2015, hopefully not related to this.
“I looked at the latest research into concussions and Traumatic Brain Injuries [TBIs]. After years of denial and sticking to my guns, I’m finally getting out of my own way. As tough as it is to say this – it’s time to stop. I’ve suffered a few TBIs and will have to work hard to reverse some of the effects taking punches to the head has brought to my overall health. I have vision problems, vestibular injuries that lead to balance disturbances, and have bouts of serious irritability and moodiness that come with TBI recovery"

He's not exactly chatting shnit either..
Re: Audley
it's abit odd , could be a wind up could be just so they both stay relevant when they're not in boxing terms

Re: Audley
He’s made some comment about him and Haye not getting away with that again as they made too much money, I wonder if that’s linked to the rumours at the time that money was bet on the 3rd round, if so that sounds very suss.

Re: Audley
All blokes are proud people, no more so than boxers, it must knaw away at Harrison surely that he's a bit of a laughing stock and thought of as cowardly, I remember he was on big brother years ago basically getting called a pussy from some gimp for strictly come dancing and he took it well tbf but I would've loved to have seen Audley give him a backhander with a bunch of daffodils
I went off on a tangent a bit there but my point was that he must surely have some deep rooted shame that his legacy isn't worthy of a Olympic gold medalist and European champ
Also he mentioned a 250k tax bill that would probably explain why he's suddenly keen to get his name out there again, he's always talked well has Harrison, maybe if he hadn't moved to the States he'd make a good pundit

Re: Audley
The whole Audley saga is somewhat sad. He could’ve been really popular and comes across as a decent fella. But it all went to his head and he started mugging himself off. But I still have a soft spot for big Aud. and handsofstone saying he would’ve made a decent pundit if he’d stayed in U.K. is right…. Though I think his wife is American and at least he can live a quiet life there without being recognised!

He uses so many emojis! Can’t tell if he’s having some Sykes / Cleverly style issues, or if he’s just jumped entirely on the banter train. It’s all a bit much to read through; whatever it is.

Re: Audley
I'm not sure he was a net benefit to british boxing in the end. Ruined boxing on BBC by choosing the bums he chose and making boxing a laughing stock. I saw some clip from an old Big Brother show and there was some black guy having an argument with another guy which was almost coming to blows and the black guy (Victor I think his name was) said something like "You think you can fight me? You are worse than an Audley Harrison opponent!".
Audley turned himself into a laughing stock and then getting starched by Sprott just confirmed it. Talk to anyone about the Haye fight and they all think it was fixed. Harrison threw virtually no punches and was the laughing stock of the country again but also got a lot of hate because people considered it a fix. Losing to Rogan was embarrassing. There is a video on youtube of him speaking well after the fight and claiming he has a broken jaw. Getting starched by Price and Wilder again after giving it large pre fight was more icing on the cake. When Groves and Degale were having their beef years later and Groves called Degale "another deluded gold medalist", everyone knew what he was talking about.
It was a horror of a career really. He made a lot of money but at the expense of public goodwill and became such a laughing stock and derided figure that he had to flee the country.

On the flipside, I remember watching him at the olympics and he did look brilliant. And he was quite classy in prizefighter. But not much else really.

Re: Audley
I didn't make it through the interview. I lasted about twenty minutes. A bit like his fights.
Re: Audley
I know Buncey-bashing is quite topical around here .. but as bad as the Audley farce was - it was Buncey at the forefront legitimising and promoting it to the viewers. That's when Bunce-the-dunce jumped the shark for me.
Re: Audley
Poor guy, never been a fan but I feel so sorry for him watching him on ifl. I "hope" hes just on something as I spent most of that interview thinking "what does he want to do in boxing now" as I couldnt follow him, that's how incoherent he was.
Think he just wants to mamae/train someone but really not sure

Re: Audley
It’s sad.
And I too wished he’d sparked out that dancer twat on BB !
HW Olympic Gold, Euro Champ and lots of money is actually an hellacious career. Most of us hardcore fans have a ton of respect for Audley for all his faults.
Hope he’s ok.

Re: Audley
I made reference to it earlier but hoping this weird behaviour isn't linked to brain trauma which Audley mentioned having issues with several years ago.
Re: Audley
Have to say - it crossed my mind listening to that interview. Its almost to the point that I think Kugan should take it down but that might seem unfair on Audley, but they should have perhaps had a chat to see how bad it came across.Controversial wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 05:58 I made reference to it earlier but hoping this weird behaviour isn't linked to brain trauma which Audley mentioned having issues with several years ago.
Its a strange one, you couldn't really describe it as rambling or in coherent as alot of what he said was factually accurate on his career - some good memories on the dates etc and he has always been arguing his case for more credit etc. However, but there were signs of something not quite right there as in the very few questions Kugan asked he seemed to go off on a tangent very quickly and not answer the question.
I say it might be deemed unfair on Audley to take it down as I think (very hard to really comprehend) that he used that interview as a plan to work as a manager for a boxer - although most of the interview I thought "he wants to make a comeback". If Kugan does take it down, even thought it would be for his best interests and long term beneficial for Audley, I can see Audley being annoyed that he has lost the chance to sell himself as a manager.
I will refrain from speaking negatively about Audley the boxer, I respect anyone who steps in the ring and I think all I can do is wish him all the best and its great he has found that spark and hope he continues to be happy.

Re: Audley
I was always impressed with Audley anytime he was on Ringside or doing some punditry at live shows. Shame he didn’t pursue that path.
Re: Audley
couldn't agree more. articulate and measured. it always annoys me when Amir splutters his way through punditry during the Olympics instead of big Aud.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 14:22 I was always impressed with Audley anytime he was on Ringside or doing some punditry at live shows. I had a great time at Sydney Olympics got to watch Audley and had really high hopes when he turned pro, but it never worked out for him.
Think he just didn't have the mental toughness for me the Guinn loss confirmed that.

Re: Audley
Me too. That and the chin. He never looked comfortable holding a decent shot and the Sprott fight spelled out why.Old bones Ian wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 16:35 I had a great time at Sydney Olympics got to watch Audley and had really high hopes when he turned pro, but it never worked out for him.
