The Kings ~ Leonard Hearns Hagler Duran

Post by MightyWarrior »

The showtime series has just landed on Amazon Prime via discovery +, you can get a free seven day trial by the way.

Absolutely stunning production, I’ve never seen a better boxing documentary, do not miss it.
This is what you’d show to someone so they understand what boxing is all about.

This thing has surely got to win awards.
They must’ve scoured thousands of hours of old local TV station footage to dig up film of the four of them not seen in 40 years, a young Marvin Hagler reciting poetry trying to be the next Muhammad Ali, with hair

I grew up in this era and it's kind of sad we'll never see the likes of it again.

Nowadays these fights would be talked about but never happen. :verysad:

Exactly. You didn't hear Hagler, Hearns, Duran or Leonard prattling on about "legacy" - they just got on with it.

Thanks for the heads-up :TU: I was going to have to sign up to ESPN to watch it. Now I don't!

Great stuff. Great decade.

Mention for Benitez as the 'fifth Beatle'. On a par with those lads.

Here here - Fought three of them and has as many wins as Duran did against them.

I downloaded it as I thought it would never come to streaming.

It’s very good, way beyond my expectations. Top rank did a film a good few years back about the four of them but this dumps all over that by a huge margin.

Good mention. If he would have fought Hagler, he would be remembered with them. Even if he got destroyed.
