Hearn claims Fury doesn't want Usyk fight

Post by Bandog »

Apparently Joshua was willing to step aside, but for some reason Fury doesn't want it? Did he lose his nerve? Crazy.

I don't believe a word a promoter says.
And don't believe most of what the boxers say.
Like Gearn said all smoke and mirrors. We are only getting a sliver of truth from all of them.

Whatever makes you look better

Hearn is too dumb to realise that by saying what he's said he's let it slip that Joshua was prepared to take step aside i.e. now the sober reality has set in, he doesn't want to fight Usyk next either. Brits are great at talking without engaging their brains first.

Joshua has already lost the rematch.
He sounds defeated

Well his manager probably compared what he'd earn against Whyte and what he'd earn against Usyk then looked at the step aside money. I reckon Fury-Usyk and Fury-Whyte sell similar numbers of PPVs

I don't blame Fury for not wanting the Usyk fight. I myself am not too interested in seeing it. Usyk himself has said that he could never beat Fury. When it comes to boxing there is like a formula that one can apply. Size advantage + skill + will + shape + power + x etc = winner and while Usyk is a better boxer than Fury the size difference is just way too great to overcome and it's not like Usyk is a cw or hw version of RJjr.

Fury vs Usyk is a boring meaningless fight that should never take place.

I honestly dont think he wants it either, never made sense to me. His alternate is so much better. The options are...

-Pay massive money to AJ so that you can fight USYK who is a big name but not a massive one, and the best boxer in the division, its undisputed which is neat though. If (big If) you win you fight AJ but thats probably not for undisputed because 1 or many will strip you, so that losses some shine...

or

-fairly Easy fight vs whyte (obviously everything can banana skin but whyte is just chisora 2.0, fury should dominate), then undisputed (bonus: you get about a 30% chance of your opponent being AJ which is easier and way more money than Usyk but if usyk wins his profile is improved from a double victory over AJ). Then if you win that you can fight the remaining opponent on your terms, and retire.

Good points. I kinda have to agree,at least for the most part,as the saying goes.
Personally, I would see Fury-Usyk as being basically a Wlad vs Ibragomov type of bout.
A Wlad/Ibragomov 2.0 sort of throwback.. :geek:
Slightly Slightly better, but very likely Not living up to the initial hype.

I seriously doubt Usyk ever said that. I'm sure someone out there is hopeful he said that though.

I just want a heavyweight title fight.
How much longer can these d*ckheads mouth off without fighting each other or in Fury's case, anyone.
Joshua pushing the rematch with Uysk out to 4-5 months, waste of time. If he wasn't ready to fight Uysk in two months, he never will be.
And Fury typically d*cking everyone around without actually signing anything or fighting anyone.
The sooner these time wasters get out of boxing the better.

dude is simply open to considering a step aside fee = ducking, losing nerve, etc

another dude actually turns down a 7-8m payday for a guy you've called out, any time, any place, any money = not ducking, all excuses bought

Beating Usyk would make Fury the unified and undisputed Champion - the first since Lennox Lewis. I'm pretty sure Fury would want that and would have gone for it if he thought it was a good idea. In my opinion, the Fury who beat Wilder in their third fight would lose to the Usyk who beat Joshua. I think Fury probably deemed the fight as being too risky if he's not 100%.

I'm more excited for a Fury-Usyk fight than anything else at heavyweight, or at any other weight - it's an intriguing matchup and probably the most meaningful one that could be made at present.

Not buying that claim by Hearn. Hearn knows Joshua is taking the rematch with Usyk and will not step aside for $15m. Perhaps Hearn is trying to devalue Fury by saying this?

Pretty obvious Fury would prefer to unify with Usyk for bigger money than make a mandatory vs Whyte who might actually be the more risky fight for Fury right now. Usyk seems absolutely tailor made for Fury, just too small to bother Fury.

Many thought Usyk was too small for Joshua too. Fury struggles with southpaws that are skilled.
Joshua was willing to step aside, but Fury knows that fight will still be there. Fury has a better chance vs Joshua imo, so he's hoping for an upset I'm sure.

AJ was never going to step aside for Fury to beat Usyk. I think it is very possible AJ tanked the Usyk fight to set up the more lucrative rematch via the rematch clause. Similar to the very very bad first Ruiz performance. AJ seemed to just push his punches one at a time vs Usyk, no vicious combinations, no intensity, just soft sparring. Hate to say it but if ever there was a tanked fight to throw the fight, AJ vs Usyk looked guilty. I mean, compared to the viciousness AJ showed vs Klitschko, how he could box so soft and gentle and stupid vs Usyk is unfathomable. I fully expect AJ to dominate the rematch with Usyk easily as he will show his true self this time. Then it's on to AJ vs Fury - if Fury can handle Whyte which is no certainty. Fury's wins over the total bum fraud Wilder are overrated, Wilder is that bad. There's a reason why Wilder had to be protected from Whyte for like three years and WBC skullduggery.

I do actually remember Usyk or one of his team members saying he's too small to fight Fury and he would have no chance to beat Fury. Fury vs AJ is the FIGHT. Usyk and Fury are not proven sellers on their own, AJ certain is and he's a big stadium filler.

AJ has the fire power and the size to trouble Fury, if he fights the way he did vs Wladimir. If he holds back and boxes soft the way he did vs Ruiz 1 and Usyk, Butterbean or Trevor Bryan could beat AJ on points.
