Interesting fight, though mchunu was the better boxer and should win, but he was very content on the back foot throwing single counters which is very very hard to win a decision with.

Think we will see a wide split here. its what you like.

makabu a fair winner for me, mchunu needed to step up his activity, he wasnt landing enough/well enough to compensate for makabu pressing harder. mchunu looked frustrated and dejected at the end of the fight, was surprised he got a split tbh.

overall a competitive but low energy fight that was a bit disappointing

Mchunu was the clear winner IMO. I had it 9-3. Makabu might have come forward, but was not in any way an effective aggressor. He was very inaccurate with his punches, and Mchunu landed the cleaner, crisper shots throughout the fight.
Makabu was going to get the decision even if he didn't deserve it, because of the plans for the Canelo fight. Sad, but true.

makabu walked through mchunu's shots, not really sure what was so effective about them. everything mchunu had, makabu came back with just as much

Think mchunu landed the crisp work and stiffened the legs of makabu few times. But just wouldent leave the counter potshot mindset. All well good being counter guy but you stun someone get on em.

As I said though mchunu won, big have no problem with the decision, I think I could of scored that wide either way or a draw depending on my mood.

Don King comes from nowhere to remind everyone that he's a b!tch. Mchunu clearly outboxed Makabu, landed way more significant shots.

Totally agree with you. I had no rooting interest in this fight, but I watched the whole thing, and Mchunu very clearly outlanded and outclassed Makabu. Makabu landed some body shots and some jabs, but the real consistent and effective work was done by Mchunu.

Makabu is quite crap to be honest isn’t he?

He has a cool KO record and all that, but he probably isn’t even top 5 CW

INcredible that Don King is still in business at age 90 and promoting like Arum is at age 90 also. Do they do it for love of boxing or is it really greed? Where is the next wave of next generation promoters to replace these old pharts?

Arum is still making money. No don't about it.

No way can King be making money with these crap PPV cards. He has got to be doing it because he enjoys it

More than that. King used this card as a stepping stone to set himself up for two huge fights later this year. Mbuchubu is in line for at least $5m to fight Canelo and Bryan now has himself a mandatory shot vs Usyk or AJ for about $8m.

Arum of course controls Fury who is in position for $30m plus vs Whyte and then $100m vs AJ. Arum also has Stevenson, Loma, among other valued assets.

arum is still a huge player, arguably the biggest promoter still in boxing. hes picked up a bunch of top usa amateurs recently too, still adding plenty of future talents

kings more a novelty and has been that way for years, but with makabu -canelo a possibility hes perhaps more relevant now than he has been for a while. who are the last guys to turn pro with king?

Dubois is mandatory for Bryan.

Bryan ain’t getting the WBA Super title shot anytime

Bryan will surely duck Dubois, as wilder ducked Whyte for three years.
