I've only ever heard the Bob Sheridan/Muhammad Ali call but watching extended footage on YouTube I noticed Cossell was there in the ring post fight and even interviewed Foreman.
If Cossell was there he surely called the fight for some outlet? Anyone ever heard it?
Is there a Howard Cossell call of Foreman vs Norton?

Those big fights in the 1960's and 1970's were usually shown LIVE on 'closed-Circuit" Theater
which meant you had to go downtown to a theater ,bar or race-track or somewhere
public that would recieve the signal.Of course you had to buy a ticket to watch it live.
( 10 dollars was the cheapest from what I remember)
then the following weekend the fight would be re-played on
ABC'S WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS
on either the following Saturday or Sunday.
That where Howard Cosell comes in there in the National re-play of it
( see the Bob Foster thread where Ali fights Foster,
ABC did not replay the Norton vrs Clarke fight,
so that has the original live broadcast team covering it.

Closed circuit was usually the case for quite a while. Then for whatever reason, the networks started showing a lot more big fights live in the mid-late 70s on national TV than they had the 1960s/early 1970s. Though Ali-Norton was only broadcast on network TV awhile after it happened.

Thank you! Strange that all these years I only ever saw the Sheridan version. Even in high profile documentaries like Champions Forever they used Sheridan over the famous Cossell.
I wonder if there's another version of the Jungle without Sheridan? I don't think Cossell went over.
