Idi Amin-Professional boxer?

Post by DavidEpstein »

I read that former Africian dictator, General Idi Amin was the Ugandan Lightheavyweight Champion from 1951-1961, and that he started boxing in 1948. Are there any records for him? Was he a pro or an amateur?

His brutal stoppage of Al Migliorito is one bout that should be recalled -- especially the way Migliorito started crying after he woke up.

Amin's 1974 private bout with 1960 Olympian Francis Nyangweso is another classic.

Clearly you're not a fan of Al Migliorato.

Regarding Amin, according to his bio, he was the lightheavyweight champion of Uganda until 1961. Was just wondering if there was any knowledge of it.

First fight I saw live, I was 8 or 9 years old and Al Migliorito knocked out A man about a foot taller than him in 18 seconds, early 1970's
