Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
BJS is about to go on talkSPORT.
Apparently he has some things to say about CEJ and is going to call for the rematch.
I know neither are necessarily that popular, but it would be a fight I would look forward to.
Still a pick'em for me. Probably edge to CEJ on activity, but the second half of that last fight was a little concerning.

Anyone know how long is left on Saunders' contract with DAZN?

Seems he might be a free agent. Quotes from interview:
"I had a conversation with my dad. Boredom sets in.... I would come back for a big fight and it is a big fight. I am open to talks. They can contact me direct. I am my own boss."

More quotes:
"I want to do if for the fans. They have been good to me over the years and paid their money. I don't want to deny them this fight."
Also says he hasn't heard much from Eddie Hearn.

Is his contract with Matchroom, DAZN or both?maverick23 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2022, 08:36He’s got one fight left on his contract.Frostieballs wrote: ↑10 Feb 2022, 08:11 Seems he might be a free agent. Quotes from interview:

It sounds like he doesn't have a contract at all.
Ben Shalom is on talkSPORT now and says he has spoken to BJS direct.
Said he suggested BJS had a warm up first, but he declined. Said he wanted to go straight in.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
This is the type of fight that a) I'd quite like to see and b) can only be done on PPV.
DAZN can't deliver the funding for this type of fight, whilst Sky would want a profit off it and certainly wouldnt do on Sky Sports.
Full arena and £10million of PPV waiting for it.
If Canelo goes the GGG route, then I think it might happen.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
I’d favour CEJ in a big way in this one.
Hopefully CEJ can get rid of Jones and stop doing his RJJ impersonation and get back to his previous come forward aggressive style.
I always thought BJS was a money orientated fighter. Now he’s got his Canelo money I worry about the level of ambition and conditioning he’d bring to the table.
Also instead of a fun build up I see BJS saying something silly and unsavoury and getting a BBCoC fine.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
I’d watch it.
BJS just let’s his daft dirty mouth run away with him to much. He was/is such a talent though.
As for CEJ.. one thing everyone seemed to miss out on, even the Bunceman himself, was how emotionally worked up he got Liam Williams into.
The dude was HATING on him. CEJ was calm as a crab.
Hate leads to fear, fear leads to … said Yoda.
It led a 4 round ass whopping with a Jab mostly. CEJ cruised the rest, he was comfortable, in front. And at 32 why take any punishment he can avoid. ! Clever lad
I’d love to see CEJ get Billy wound up. If he could..

Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
I think BJS wins the rematch more easily.
The gap between them in terms of skill and ring IQ may have narrowed slightly as Jr has improved down the years but the gap in fitness that Jr exploited in the 2nd half of their first fight is probably a lot smaller now. Jr can’t maraud after anyone for 12 rounds anymore, he just potshots.

At middleweight ? Saunders would struggle to make that and Eubank would be silly to agree anything above 160lbs
Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
Not taking into consideration the absolute pasting he took from Canelo. That’s 3 fights worth for most!CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑11 Feb 2022, 18:50 I think BJS wins the rematch more easily.

And his since inactivity..
My moneys on CEJ, as long as he make Billy angry at him !

As long as there's no lasting damage from the injury then he should be fine, it wasn't what I'd call an absolute pasting - he took a fair bit of punishment for half a round after the big shot landed.
Jr's been annoying his whole life ! If he couldn't make Bill angry first time around I doubt he will do now.
Hope it gets made, it would certainly be one to look forward to

Eubank would just bring up Saunders quitting on his stoolCaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑11 Feb 2022, 19:30As long as there's no lasting damage from the injury then he should be fine, it wasn't what I'd call an absolute pasting - he took a fair bit of punishment for half a round after the big shot landed.

im bored of the back and forth already
Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
Yes, Eubank isn't on the same level. 12 rounds of BJS stinking out the joint.
And besides, didn't BJS say he would come back for the fans?
And the tumbleweed just flowed through town...

eubank took a huge step up after little meaningful pro experience and still fought to a split the first time, bjs certainly isnt levels above and just had his face smashed in

Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
Exactly, fighters who are supposed to be levels above, a triple champions and ex olympian should not be going to split decisions against novices.Saunders whenever asked about Eubank said he was shite and if he couldn't beat him easily would retire. If Saunders had won ten rounds or stopped Eubank then you could agree but we all watched the fight and we all seen the success Jr had that night, arguably Eubank is better now,Saunders isn'tmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022, 02:53 eubank took a huge step up after little meaningful pro experience and still fought to a split the first time, bjs certainly isnt levels above and just had his face smashed in
Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
I was impressed with Eubank in the fight with Williams. Hes earnt his stripes to test himself in the big league. I wouldn't mind seeing the Saunders rematch, but would much prefer to see him mix it with the Andrade, Charlo or triple G.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Billy Joe Saunders - The Rematch?
And although Williams made a poor start, he defi jtely redeemed himself as the fight went on.

Eubank Jr: Saunders Has Nothing To Offer, Everything Will Be On My Terms!
"I’m the only thing he has left in the sport of boxing," Eubank said to The Daily Mail.
"The fight will happen, it’s just when, where and how. Everything will be on my terms, he has nothing to offer. I’m the only name that people are interested in him fighting... I’m his best friend in boxing right now, he has no one else.
"It’s not for me to reach out to them. I’ve got a long list of huge fights that could be made for me over the next six to 12 months so he’s not a priority. I understand the public want to see the fight, I do obviously have this history with him… I want to avenge the loss that he was gifted. The fight will happen but when I’m ready."
