If you guys are going to insist on using that made up DOB on Sonnys record when it has actually been proven by extensive research that nobody, including Liston himself & his mother, had a clue when he was actually born, i feel you should do so with a least an asterix and explain the controversy & endless debate regarding Sonnys age.
The fact you list his age at death at 38 when most people who knew him concede he was closer to that age when he fought Ali, six whole years before he died, is misleading in the extreme for people coming to this site for research, etc.
Please banter back with me, esteemed boxrec dwellers, id be interested to hear your thoughts.
SONNY LISTON DOB
According to the 1930 Arkansas census Charles wasn't a member of the Liston family at that time. His older brothers and sisters are listed.
In the census each family had to state of how many members it consisted and what their (aproximate) age was, it has nothing to do with the existence of birthcertificates.
Though 1932 may prove to be incorrect, the date is closer to the truth than some of us might like. For those that like mysteries (me)or want Sonny to be older (me) .... sorry.

It is. Look at his Wiki.overhand_right wrote:Even if all of what you just said is 100% correct, the exact DOB is complete mystery and the one listed is purely speculatory by the Liston brood. It should be pointed out as such!
