Been seeing somewhere this fight Kambosas -- Lomenchenko is getting made for june in melbourne , anyone know if its true or just rumors
Got to say if its true i'm a bit suprised i would of thought Kambosas would of gone an easier route for his first defence , in fact if he was any of the other big names , probably half a dozen easier routes

Some excerpts from a report in the SMH:
Undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos jnr will ride a wave of support from Melbourne’s Greek community when he makes the first title defence at Marvel Stadium in June, likely to be against Ukrainian star Vasiliy Lomachenko.
The 28-year-old Sydneysider stunned the world late last year when he upset American Teofimo Lopez to claim the WBA, IBF and WBO belts. He instantly began dreaming of a major stadium event in Australia and that now looks certain to come to fruition, according to his promoter Lou DiBella.
...Kambosos’ (20-0) home town of Sydney was the other venue in the running, but Melbourne looks to have won out, with June 5 being reported as a possible date by ESPN. The AFL will shuffle games to accommodate the event, with the stadium’s closed roof a key factor given the time of year.
American Devin Haney, who holds the WBC belt, was an obvious name as Kambosos looked to complete the set. But Lomachenko (16-2), who lost his titles to Lopez but had previously been rated as one of boxing’s best pound-for-pound fighters, has now emerged as the leading candidate.
...Haney had appeared reluctant to travel to fight Kambosos while Lomachenko, a twice-Olympic champion and three-division world champion as a pro, is regarded as a far bigger drawcard for Australian fight fans. It stands to be the biggest fight in Australia since Jeff Horn hosted Manny Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadium in 2017.
Melbourne has a huge Greek population and the popularity of Kambosos, a proud Greek Australian, was on show when he was courtside at the Australian Open to watch tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas. Such was his reception he had to vacate Rod Laver Arena to avoid making a scene.
