It'll be interesting to see if Baldomir can cope with 12 rounds of speed and a good chin, not 6 rounds of speed and no chin.

Baldomir had a hard enough time catching up with a shot Gatti. How the fornicate does he expect to lay a glove on Mayweather?

Sarcasm duly noted. Judah, Sharmba, Gatti, Brusseles - murderer's row indeed.

I've never seen the Baldomir v Judah fight but Baldy caught up with him. He's every bit as quick as Floyd but not one bit as clever so maybe he's halfway to having a chance. I at least expect him to make it uncomfortable at times, i can't imagine him getting disheartened at any point.

He'll be marching forward swinging for 12 rounds and make get himself a great retirement fund.
Good luck to him.

Makes it easier to justify him not fighting margarito. Fight the champ or fight an unknown for an assload of money...it'll be even easier if the money is even close.

Baldomir is nowhere near Floyds speed.
And nobody is saying he is. Shirow was stating that Judah is as quick as Mayweather.

Yeah if people are gonna start calling other peoples post dreadful then they really shouldn't mention Ray Robinson beating Hagler.

It was an obvious fight to make but lets not pretend Floyd is gonna have a hard fight here. Baldomir probably edges Mayweather in the chin department and that's it. Floyd has the skills, power, workrate, speed plus everything else in this fight. Floyd v Margartio, Hatton or Mosley would be more attractive fights but Carlos is still currently the champ.

i agree, but the only place i have seen this is the boxrec.com schedule & we ALL know how unreliable that can be (a few weeks ago that showed PBF "scheduled" to fight KERMIT CINTRON!!!!)  the only other place i have seen mayweather-baldomir is on saddoboxing.com forum & they got it from the boxrec schedule too!!

I heard at the beginning of this week that PBF was looking at a Spinks fight :o

Fair play to Mayweather if he is fighting Carlos, if he wins he's the man at 147.

Talks with him broke down as they couldn't get together on Nov or Feb, and Cory confirmed in an interview the other day.

Agreed.

Floyd will play with Baldomir. We all know he can and will. I'd much rather see a Mosley fight.

But there are certain idiots that have been criticising Floyd for fighting Judah INSTEAD of Baldomir, even though Judah is a harder fight for Floyd. These idiots proclaim Baldomir as "THE CHAMP" and say Floyd must beat him. Whats even more funny, is they would be proclaiming Gatti "THE CHAMP" if he had beaten Baldomir. lol. The lineal argument is garbage. everybody knows Floyd is BETTER than Baldomir and will beat him quite handily.

Those critics are getting what they want. They must now use the excuse of Floyd ducking another opponent. Probably Hatton, even though Floyd offered the fight numerous times and the Hattons clearly stated they needed warm ups. Or maybe even Mosley - Floyd is ducking him. Or Margarito. Funny thing is, if Floyd had fought either of them, the critics would have said he is ducking Baldomir.

I'd be interested to see in what you guys think about Hatton/Urkal...

It's silly that someone gets bashed for fighting the lineal champ at their weight. Who cares how good the guy is on paper, Baldomir has been on the top of his game his last two fights, which coincidentally were his 2 BIGGEST fights. So, is it Floyd's fault that the lineal champ at 147 may not be the most talented guy? Everyone seems to find every reason to knock this fight when there is no rhyme or reason. When Tony gets rid of Arum, you'll get your wish, until then, Floyd will never fight Margarito.

Not a good fight, but one that he has to take. He is no longer the man - he's moved up and fought the least recognisable and least credible champion.... and he struggled.

If he is too stay at Welter then he must use his title as a bargining tool, so therefore must fight Urkal. I would be anoyed if he continues to fight the weak link champion- at the moment there is a potential career in it.

For example, he could vacate this title and go for the IBF Welterweight title, which is now vacant and looks to be not great guys fighting for it. He could then go back down to LW and fight the likes of Urango for titles.

He has got to consolitate something and if that means one easy fight vs Urkal then so be it.

I'm sure Ricky wouldn't need a bargaining tool like the WBA belt at 147. The guy is 41-0, one of the most popular fighters in the world, and he didn't look great at 147. That alone is enough to get a decent payday with some of the bigger names at 147. Not to mention it's the WBA belt opened up after Mayorga beat Forrest.

It's true I don't see how people can knock PBF for taking Baldomir, good work on his camps part. I think Baldo would of been beaten by Hatton and Margarito also, but still he is "the man" I got major respect for Baldo, and I'll be cheering him on against Mayweather.

You can't really knock Floyd for taking him on, but the cold reality is this fight is a forgone conclusion. Floyd wins how he likes, and probably wont lose a round. Landslide points win is an almost dead cert.

Just a sparring session for Floyd, not the sort of PPV event a guy with his talent should be taking part in by now.

I'd rather PBF fight Margarito but am happy with Baldomir. Baldomir has paid he due's over the years and has some very impressive wins along the way especially this year. He'll give it his best go win or lose.

What does anyone (MW especially) think that Ricky brings to the table that Baldomir didn't.

Lets not forget, Ricky was a little fortunate vs Collazo and looked vulnerable. Baldomir's is a big Welterweight who looks like he can walk through anyone, Hatton isn't. IMO Ricky should be a man and give Collazo a rematch - lets see the mythical 13th round that people mention in rematches - Hatton looked out on his feet in the 12th.

I can see what you are saying about Baldomir being a glorified sparring session - but to be honest only Margarito I can see being good enough to make an arguement pre fight.... Not even Mosley.

Thats of course, till he moves to 154 where a fair few fighters can give him serious questions.

I know what you're saying Stu, but you have to admit there would be massive interest in PBF/Hatton - it would be a sell out and a major PPV event, generate pages and pages of news print and set the world of boxing talking for months. And millions on the table for both.

PBF/Baldomir is run of the mill in comparison.

Why is that? Even though Floyd would be a big favorite?

Call it the X factor.

You can't knock Mayweather for fighting Baldomir. He is the 'man' at welter,so it makes sense.
Hatton should'nt entertain Urkal or any other fighter at welter unless it's PBF himself.
Head back down to LW,pick up a couple of belts,or try to get Cotto,Castillo in the ring,if Ricky comes through them, then PBF HAS to fight him, simple as that.

I still beleive it will happen.I don't think both fighters will be undefeated when they meet though,I got a feeling PBF is gonna end up biting off more than he can chew(in the shape of ODH or Winky)
But I'am confident we will see them share a ring one day, just hope they are both considered in their prime when it does happen.

Id love to see that fight....i wouldnt mind having some sneeky money on Shane....I think he`s big enough to take floyd`s shots...i dont think pretty boy has the pop...if you look at his last few fights...he took out Gatti(impressive as it was...lots of guys have beat up on on old "thunder"). Sharmba Mitchell(..I thought he looked fragile against Mike Stewart!!! :TU: ). even the Judah fight...every time Zab gets tagged on the chin his legs go...and it seemed to me that Floyd was havin a bit of trouble gettin old china chin zab out of there....The fact tha im not gonna argue is that PBF is the finest exponant of the art out there.....but if Shane gets cute and lands...you never know
