HUGE HUGE Step up for. Opetaia

Post by Grant »

Can't believe we aren't getting excited about this. I know Jai has been having trouble getting fights but this seems to me to be too far without testing himself against top ten opponents. I wish him well though,
Does anyone have a plan about how Jai can win this?

to look on the positive side, briedis is 37, perhaps he's not what he once once. and noel gevor ran him very close with a lot of boxing and moving, he's not unbeatable

Another media excerpt with cruiserweight Jai Opetaia confirmed to challenge for the IBF title against Latvia’s Mairis Briedis on the Gold Coast:

"The bout was scheduled for April but with Briedis getting a dose of the flu right after recovering from COVID, it will now be shifted back to a date in early May. Opetaia has recovered from hand surgery and at 26, is more than a decade younger than his veteran opponent."

Covid and the flu.... need breidis to walk in looking like povetkin in his last fight. Then youth and fitness might overcome skill and experence. otherwise i cant see jai dealing with the step up in class. its just to much to go from 100th in the world to 1 in the world....

37, had covid and the flu..........thesse are the type of factors that can make these big upsets happen

fighting in jai's backyard too

its also true that jai's fought no one close to this level, but i've always thought he looked good and that when he did step up he'd do well
