Absolutely. I was more thinking of his health going forward. He could easily have been 25 stone by now with his frame and ready for a stroke/heart attack. I'm glad he's kept trim. Known him a long time, wished he'd packed it in after Tyson but hey ho. Lovely fella and don't like seeing him getting hit.

I always did think that Gammer fight was a good shape to be in. Danny said he just felt weak in interviews though and promptly went back to coming in at 18 stone every fight. I think it’s a psychological thing. Michael Spinks liked to talk about the extra weight being a type of armour. I’d imagine Fury in his mind thinks coming in at 19 or even 20 stone is a good thing, even though historically I’d imagine people will always look to the Wlad fight as his optimum shape.

Guess so. In the late 80s Foreman gave up trying to get his weight down as he felt more robust coming in heavy.

Spot on! I know when you're a young bull you want to be big and powerful but when you reach your 50's (as Danny will in a few years...) you need to get rid of the bulk because it's just going to cause you many problems later on.

Looking at the pic posted by Polidori - he looks around 230lbs? Which is good for him as when he was weighing in at 18 stone - he seemed to have little visible bodyfat - he was a proper unit.

He seems pretty light in there. Maybe actually 15 stone. He must be on a pretty healthy diet these days. Probably just does a bit of keep fit at home or something. Lower testosterone has stripped off some muscle. Looking a bit like Bruno. Skinny limbs.

I think we can probably draw conclusions about why Fury could fight Wlad at 17 and a half stone ish and feel strong. If he is clean now or cleanish that extra weight is required to be strong and heavy handed. He has good stamina, I suspect he's fairly slow twitch dominant. Danny is too. He was very fit aerobically even as an 18 stoner. It's why neither are nuclear punchers.
