winning bonuses are often suggested by fans, and also happen lots in mma, but you rarely hear about them actually happening in boxing. anyone know any other fights its happened, and are you in favour?

Re: winning bonuses?
Don’t know of any other boxing matches off top of my head. I’m very much in favour of it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Feb 2022, 04:06 4m to the winner of fury-whyte

That might encourage fighters/corners to continue longer in a fight than they should

Did they? What was it?
Re: winning bonuses?
I presume because it raises the likelihood of lawsuits in the event of a dodgy decision. If both parties are getting paid the same whatever the outcome of the fight, there would be no loss to sue the other party for.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Feb 2022, 04:06 4m to the winner of fury-whyte

I like them, but more so when its evener. So like i love the idea of fights being 40-40- 20.... (winnter gets the 20). thats probably my favourite split in theroy.

If it's guaranteed then you're getting paid, but if you're clearly screwed on the cards and it's a clear robbery or even a disputed decision, the loser will think he's earned that bonus.
I'd rather take a 50-50 split on the bonus on a high profile fight.
