Lightweights: Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker vs. Jim Watts

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Lightweight Bout

Sweet Pea would overwhelm Watts behind his southpaw jabs, dodges, counters and combinations to take a decision in the battle of the two southpaws. What do you guys think and who do you got?

IMO, Whitaker would stop him late from accumulation/cuts or win a wide UD. A bit of positioning and feeling out early from the two lefties, but Whitaker was on a different level than Watts and would outclass him and smack him around once he got the hang of it. Prime vs prime, It would be a pretty good fighter - good enough in some eras to win and hold a belt - vs a great one, and with their styles the great one would eventually dominate.

Whitaker by UD. Unless in Scotland, where Wart takes a controversial SD.
