Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
Not gonna lie this is a disappointing matchup
What's up with the Wardley team?
He's a terrific prospect but is being moved so slowly
The US import Martz usually flops in 2 rounds, can't believe there wasn't a better opp

Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
I dont think wardly has been moved to slowly, has has massive flaws and limited experience.
This fight isnt without slight risk, martz is big and knocks a lot of people out early so must have a decent punch on him, plus wardly defence can be shakey... But Martz also has a glass chin. So i really cant see the benefit here unless they are trying to add to the highlight reel... wardly needs rounds, he has fought for 2 mins in 11 months.... be lucky to get another couple of rounds out of this guy.

Well, up to the date his track isn't critically slow. Yet probably it's time to step up.

have you looked at who Martz actually knocks out early? As I said, the last 5 opponents he beat had their most recent wins 19 years ago, 16 years ago (at smw), 8 years ago, and 6 years ago x2. daniel martz simply doesnt beat guys who wingregregegg wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 16:08 I dont think wardly has been moved to slowly, has has massive flaws and limited experience.

OK i have to admit i assumed they would be poor, but didnt check details this time.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 17:28have you looked at who Martz actually knocks out early? going into detail iv actualy never seen somthing so bad... They have all been stopped first round about 8 times in a row.
This is a meaningless highlight reel filler i guess. Still dont think wardlys been moved to slow (well wasnt 2021, 2022 is not a good start).

Why is Wardley a terrific prospect?
Two of his fights had fairly questionable endings, potential dives it seemed.

terrific is exaggerating, but he's looked good enough to interest me. pretty remarkable that 4 unliscnend fights were the extent of his experience before turning pro

Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
i think his opposition has been okay for the most part for where he's at, but martz is awful so not too happy about this. if he were fighting 4-5 times a year it would be different, but for 2021, 2020, and 2018 he only fought 2x each
needs to up the activity and this year needs to face a career best opponent - how about something like hammer + kuzmin this year?

I give him a slight pass on this one as he’s coming back from injury so long as he has a more meaningful fight next. I’d like to see him in against Gorman for British. It’s disappointing Joyce is holding up the British belt. The board really need to do more to keep the belts active.
Martz really seemed to enjoy fighting Rubin Williams!

I really rated gorman, If you wanna see fast hands and smart punch selection I recommend watching gorman vs sean turner, that was a great effort by a 21 year old. I hope he can get some momentum going again. Think he is too much for wardly as is though.

Breaking himself back in gently after injury I think.
Hopefully Solomon Dacres is back out soon as well he’s had shoulder surgery.
I do have to say watching the heavyweight progress of Wardley, Dacres, Fisher, Adeleye, The Cabbage, Tommy Welch and Nick Campbell is intriguing in its own way.

Wardley Vs McKean next for the Commonwealth hopefully. That might get him a world ranking should he win. Hopefully higher profile fights will follow.
That would be a good matchup. Probably the best two heavyweights in Britain that aren't looking at bigger things at the moment.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Feb 2022, 06:35 actually i notice he's got a fight scheduled

Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
I dont think Mckean is good, but i dont think wardly is ready for that next. Doubt thats what they are setting up.
Wardly Just needs to go rounds. He has no amature background, an 30 carrer rounds (that counts partial rounds)...
Dempsy doesnt have an amature background either, but has 100 rounds, including going 10 rounds 3 times. Plus he is a 6'6 southpaw.
Wardly should try get 24+ rounds this year (thats very busy if they keep giving him round 1 KOs)... also needs low levle southpaw experence if he wants to step up and fight southpaws.

Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
the over recycled and boring christain hammer might actually be fitting for wardley, its around the level where chris could actually be of use. i think hammer and then more of a lively but still well calculated opponent near the end of the year would be good for wardley
if that's too risky for him , then they really dont have much confidence in fabio. i think he's decent enough and would win that clearly and he'd get in rounds if that's what theyre after.

Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
Id like to see wardly in with, Bennet, Dawejko, Johann Duhaupas, Hammer, Wach. types this year.
If he gets through a few of them Id be keen to see him fight Dave Allen for english, Or dempsy for commonwealth, Or Gorman for brittish.... Or all 3 if he keeps winning.

Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
Only not Dawejko, Duhaupas, Hammer or Wach. These will simply go for a paycheck.
Re: Fabio Wardley v Daniel Martz
Wardley is a likeable guy but clearly has a limited skill set .
European level maybe in a few fights but for me is " a filler " on the card like so many other fighters below the elite level .
I mean can anyone see him beating the gatekeeper ?
