Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
Shocking accusations by Golovkin against Canelo but there is no other way to interpret his words here... GGG uses softer words but he's clearly saying: Canelo fixed both of our fights...
“Whether they (the Canelo Alvarez fights) soured me (on boxing) a little bit, yes, because at the time the fight was the biggest fight in the world of boxing,” Golovkin said. “To see that people were able to get away with this fraud, you just start thinking really, this is how it works? You start looking at boxing, boxing’s not just a sport. From a business standpoint, people are willing to tweak it to their advantage in indecent ways and get away with it, without being responsible for their actions and without taking liability. Of course, that sort of changed my attitude.”
GGG is clearly saying Canelo is a corrupt fight fixing fraudster. Amazing courage to do this.

He's trying to sell their September bout.
There is nothing particularly "shocking" about his words, and nor does he require any sort of "amazing courage" to express those sentiments.

He's flat out saying Canelo fixed both fights. That's astonishing. Major courage for GGG to say this on the record. He's calling Canelo a corrupt POS.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 13:08He's trying to sell their September bout.

Golovkin is right, fix was in from the start. But that’s boxing, we all know the score.

Might not have been down to Canelo exactly but there was a fix in place. Boxing in general can be a fix on its own at times.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 13:43 Golovkin is right, fix was in from the start. But that’s boxing, we all know the score.

He can prevent Canelo from fixing with knocking him out

Not if he has to promise to play soft to get that huge payday, ten times more loot than he could get vs anyone else. GGG could be giving only half the story, omitting the part that he was in on the fix as he agreed to play soft.
Brilliant moves by GGG, Canelo is cornered and can't respond. And if he ducks the third GGG fight, he's the one who looks bad.

Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
Are there some people here who actually believe the GGG Canelo fights were on the level? Can't imagine any boxing fan could be so naive, ignorant or dumb.
Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
The original poster aka Scoop M is a dumb pos. Can’t stand these attention seeking threads.
Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
The Adalaide Byrd card was as black and white as corruption gets.
Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
Wrong
The Adelaide Byrd card was typical of Adelaide Byrd scorecards
Even in irrelevant undercard fights she turns in scorecards that are perplexing to any other person that actually watched the fight.
She should have been removed from judging many years before GGG/Canelo but judges don't grow on trees and whining cry-baby fans NEVER actually step up to replace garbage judges so we still have
to tolerate these judges
Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
The weak aspect of boxing is subjective judging.
Every sport with subjective judging is subject to fraud. Boxing to Figure Skating.
If you can't time it or count it there is going to biased judging.
Five judges would make it better but still not perfect.
Also, a ref should be able to look at video between rounds or after the fight to
determine the origin of a cut.
The refs count should stay as it is. A boxer can only legitimately rely on an audible count from the ref.

I can’t keep track of all these trolls with numbers as usernames any more. Are they all the same person? At least Lightiepoos is still identifiable so you can just ignore him.

It’s to do with when they sign up.
Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
I thought about becoming a judge, but that would require at least two years of judging amateur boxing for no money, then becoming a judge in my state, and then hope to get chosen to judge for world championships. I was at an IBF convention and went in the judges seminar. I wasn’t a judge, but was allowed to go in. We were shown a fight from television with Teddy Atlas commentating. He was being biased in his comments by praising the boxer who appeared to be losing. We were supposed to score every round and I also participated. We wrote our scores on papers and then at the end, the seminar speaker told us how everyone judged without mentioning our names. I judged the fight properly based on what I saw and not being influenced by the comments of Atlas. However, there were some professional judges in the seminar whose unofficial scores were affected by Atlas’ comments. After this experience and talking to a few of the people at the seminar, I realized that I could be a more competent judge than many professional judges. I was told by a pro referee at the convention to not quit my day job in pursuing a career as a judge. I decided not to pursue it. The sanctioning bodies choose who is going to judge their title fights. If they want the fight to be judged a certain way, they are not going to choose a judge who is going to be fair and impartial. I feared that my ability to make a living solely from judging would be dependent upon me scoring fights in a biased way and I don’t want to do that.Perseus wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 23:53Wrong

Yes, it did happen. It’s not a fairy tale. I was at the IBF convention in Florida. The video doesn’t play for me, but I don‘t believe you received any insider knowledge from any professional referees attending an official IBF convention claiming (or casually implying) the governing bodies don’t employ fair and impartial judges.RScarf1 wrote: ↑25 Feb 2022, 05:02Yes, it did happen. It's such a shame it never happened.
And if no one you spoke to (when you attended the IBF convention) suggested such a thing, then why camouflage your opinion using discussions you had with experienced professional judges attending an officially sanctioned event? If this was indeed the case, then what’s the purpose of this story, other than to mislead the reader into believing you possessed insider knowledge?
And I also don’t believe that competent experienced professional judges would be unduly influenced by Teddy Atlas’ comments. You simply had different scorecards, with you jumping to derogatory conclusions.
Unless you're referring to novice professional judges that are new to the sport and have only just began their careers in their chosen profession?
Anyway, I’m sorry, but I just don’t believe your claims. The "IBF convention" angle is just you dishonestly trying to persuade people into believing your opinions should be regarded as facts.
To be fair, your fictional story was a very interesting read though.
But perhaps use a few paragraphs next time, because it's tricky to read a wall of text.

You really should post more often in the Current Scene, CP.
Re: Golovkin accuses Canelo of fixing both fights
I don’t remember and I didn’t keep my notes about the whole experience of the convention. My plan was to write a follow up article, but I didn’t because if I wrote about the judges seminar, I didn’t know how people would react such as in disbelief that professional judges could actually be inadvertently influenced by Atlas’ comments while scoring a fight. I assumed while I was watching the fight that the IBF wanted to see if this would happen. Even when the boxer who appeared to be winning knocked the other boxer down, Atlas was still praising the boxer who was knocked down, but he had to restrain himself of course because it was obvious that he was not the better boxer. I don’t know why Atlas was so biased in his commentating for this fight. It was surprising to me because I never noticed that before from him.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Feb 2022, 08:31do you remember which fight it was they had you judge, with teddy being biased? i watched a ton of the old friday night fights with him

don't worry bro, EO just puts on that tone of outraged disbelief and righteous indignation towards anything that departs from his worldview.
you can- and possibly should- take his disagreement as a kind of badge of honour. He's basically confirming that you're not a complete, gaping wide-open chasm of a kvnt, simply by disagreeing with you.
