Joe Joyce Vs Joseph Parker (In discussions)

Post by joshj909 »

So there's previously been mention of the battle of the Joe's. Parker's team have confirmed that this is the fight they are pushing for.

Joyce is slow with a good engine, has accumulative power and is efficient with his shots. He has proven to have a good jab and a good chin. Parker is fast with a reasonably good engine. Doesn't seem to have the power against the top guys but he has some power. He is inefficient with his shots and has a reasonably good chin.

Difficult to predict. I think Joyce is the better boxer but styles make fights.

A one of the most interesting matchups possible. I'd favor Joyce. I guess, his toughness will matter.

True. Fingers crossed it isn't ppv...
I could just see them trying to scam punters' money for this second tier fight.

Yeah, that'd be pretty perfect. Pretty even match-up, and provided that there's a clear winner, the winner would be an excellently deserving title challenger. And they're both named Joe, so... like I said, perfectly evenly matched.

But if it was on the Fury - Whyte undercard, it'd be a hell of a card.

Good match up, this might work out well for Joyce, he's a bit better than I originally thought.

A fight between two of the toughest chins in heavyweight boxing.

Joyce’s work-rate, unorthodox style, and jab versus Parker’s fundamentally-sound boxing ability, quick hand-speed, and power.

If the fight happens in September, Joseph Parker will be 30 years of age and will be sharing the ring with a 37-year-old iteration of Joe Joyce.

However, Joseph Parker has plenty of “miles” on the proverbial “clock”, which he gained during his tough competitive bouts against the likes of Takam, Fury, Ruiz Jr., Joshua, Whyte and Chisora.

There’s not an awful lot in it in terms of height and weight, with Joyce holding only a slight size advantage.

It’s almost a 50-50 fight, with the Kiwi enjoying a razor thin edge over the Brit, mainly due to his superior experience in the paid ranks.

Anyway, I don’t have a horse in this race, because I really like both guys. They seem to be decent fellas and fighters I like to see succeeding.

If I’m not allowed to sit on the fence and forced to choose a side, then I’d have to pick Parker by close decision.

I expect the Kiwi to build an early lead on the judges’ scorecards, with Joyce’s relentless pressure eventually taking its toll during the middle to late rounds, reducing the points deficit, and Parker being forced to stage a late rally to earn the win.

But I have no confidence whatsoever in my prediction.

One of the most interesting matchups possible. A man named Joseph will win, the rest doesn't matter.

This would be a great fight.

What's the point of forever waiting around for the Usyk/Joshua/Fury/Whyte situation to clarify?

I'd favour Joyce for his awesome jab.

Besides Parker has been treading water for years.

All the talent in the world but maybe not the heart of a HW killer.

I'd never wait for fury,, and usyk is in a crazy fornicating situation. Need a PhD in soveit relations to even guess what's going on there over the next year. If it's extended Can't see anyone stripping usyk any time soon.might be few interim belts... Who knows.

People need to make money fights now rather than wait for belts because it's Mabey the worst climate ever for belt waiting.

Great match up but I'm not confident this one will actually happen. If it does, I think the Parker we saw in Chisora 2 beats JJ on points.

chizzy's chin seemed to have gone for parker 2, im not sure what parker really did all that much better than before tbh and i wouldnt trust him to hurt joyce like that. id lean toward slow joe for this one, good fight and could see going either way though

joyce is an absolute unit, i remember thinking dubs was a big arse boi and then seeing him look like a kid next to jj

he's one of the few heavyweights who can still look trim in the 260s , one of the 'naturally' biggest for sure. he's towering over parker there too, that preview shot is actually generous to jp. defo more than the 'official' 2 inch difference. parker always seems a bit shorter than his listed height tbh

I think this is possibly the best matchup in the division as far as close to 50/50 goes.
I'm probably wrong though
We will have to see on the night.
Both guys have good chins, so hopefully it won't end with one measly uppercut

I feel the now Kronk, Andy Lee trained Parker seemed much improved and more aggressive against Chisora in their 2nd fight. If the learning/improving curve continues, he should beat Joyce. Parkers handspeed is also superior and he will test Joyces chin with fast combinations. Joyce is solid though but I think Parker wins this......
