Could the BBBoC be stripped/replaced of their duty overseeing British Boxing?

I've walked away several times and always come back. They'll eventually crush my spirit completely but I'm not going to promise I'm done with it (again), I'll just say that after tonight it might just be MMA again for a while.

Re: Ian John Lewis and Victor Laughlin
It’ll be the usual charade - the judges will be invited to attend a meeting with the board to explain their decision after which Robert Smith will come out with some wishy washy cliches about it being a subjective sport but the three judges are the best placed guys in the whole arena to see what’s really happening in the ring and he has full faith in them and then it’ll be swept under the carpet and they’ll all carry on as ifnothing happened.
The whole system needs tearing down and rebuilding from scratch.

The boxers need to put their foot down and say they aren't fighting if those guys are judging. If I were e.g. Dillian Whyte, I'd not step in the ring if IJL was even in the building.

Unfortunately there will be a lone line of IJLs queuing upjimmystone wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 19:35 The boxers need to put their foot down and say they aren't fighting if those guys are judging. If I were e.g. Dillian Whyte, I'd not step in the ring if IJL was even in the building.

Thats what i was thinking. If multiple top promoters went to a parliament type levle could they tear it down and start again... Or at least make a 2nd commission so its not a crook monopoly. .

Whoever gave them the power in the first place... (probably the government).Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:41Stripped by who though?gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:32Thats what i was thinking. They are an independent body.gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:42Whoever gave them the power in the first place... (probably the government).Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:41Stripped by who though?gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:32

Anyone could set up such an organisation and it has been done.
However to have any weight you need to be recognised by the likes of the EBU and the world bodies.
It would need such bodies like this to take away their backing and give it to a new body to have any real effect
Re: Ian John Lewis and Victor Laughlin
I used to be obsessed by boxing. Boxed myself for years, used to watch multiple fights a day, read every magazine around, on every forum talking boxing, stil coach.
However, in the last 3 or 4 years I've lost all my love for watching it, i would now struggle/be completely unable to tell you the top man in most divisions.
I watched that fight last night though and it completely reinforced why I barely show any interest in the sport anymore.
An absolute robbery. Incompetence could maybe be identified if you were generous and if it was one judge, but when it's 2 then it's corruption pure and simple.
I don't want to invest any of my time in a sport like that.

influenced by the crowd , was bullshit hometown decision , i'm a big fan of taylor and wanted him to win but it's gone on for too long how one judge had it by 3 rounds to taylor is beyond meSupremo wrote: ↑27 Feb 2022, 03:00 I used to be obsessed by boxing. BBBOC are old fossiles. Need to change their ways. New blood. even see a female judge/referee come up the ranks.
Re: Ian John Lewis and Victor Laughlin
Exactly, they are a self appointed closed shop and not a government body.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:41Stripped by who though?gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 20:32Thats what i was thinking. Like when Luca tried to start MBC a few years ago it was the BBBofC who threatened boxers by saying they couldn't fight for British titles etc.
The problem is that only a very small number of boxers have the power to do anything and the rest are expendable- eg. Haye got away with boxing under Luxembourg and Fury was able to do what he did with the drug testers but very very few others are in a position to do the same.
