I scored it 114-112 for Catteral. But I was scoring figuring into each round the hometown discount. I felt JT was so outclassed 6-10 that he needed a knockout. Catteral did coast in championship rounds which u can’t do vs the champ in his backyard.

I felt gutted for the kid. He fought his balls off and deserved it. But this fight was an absolute mess. Catteral did instigate most of the holding and should have been hit with more deductions. What I do know for a fact is that we’ve seen the last of this ref. I’ve never seen a ref call over 10 timeouts during a fight and his only deductions were really not harsh enough to be called.

i think cat won, but he should have been told to stop holding or he would be disqualified, his holding was terrble and it materially affected taylors ability to hit, him which he as trying to do for the last rounds, its a fight not a hugging match

I agree to a point. JT’s offensive game plan was garbage and I think that he fell victim to home crowd appeasement. He did push forward all night but he was headhunting against another southpaw that saw it coming a mile away. Catteral just continually let JT come over the top and lean into him feigning a natural clinch either via head or under JT’s armpit. JT never mixed it up and stopped coming over the top. Had he been patient and not neglect the body while utilizing his height and distance, I think that he could have won a unanimous decision.

We’ve seen this hometown pressure affect so many top boxers, it boggles my mind why so many fighters go out of their way to try to schedule these hometown fights. Too much pressure trying to impress everyone in town. Not for me I say. Fight me anywhere else and it’s your lunch.
