Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
I actually had Taylor winning by a point.
Had it 4-2 Catterall at half way and all square after 10, with Josh winning the last two.
Have watched it back and haven't changed my mind BUT there were a hell of a lot of close rounds.
Question - which other fights where people have screamed robbery did you agree with the winner? I had Bradley beating Pacquiao too FWIW...!

I've had a fair few off cards, had Wilder beating Fury in their first fight, watched it again and had Fury by a few, thought Ward beat Kovalev in their first fight
Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
Don’t worry. We all have shockers.
I tend to only watch fights once that I score and I had Mayweather v Canelo 114-114.

I was surprised by the level of animosity when SRL was given the nod over Hagler. It was a meddling fight to score but would too have given it to SRL. Think there was one judge who gave it him by a virtual landslide, which was a bit outlandish.MarkMcBurney wrote: ↑28 Feb 2022, 15:42 I actually had Taylor winning by a point.

I also had it 4-2 at halftime, but the deducted points cancelled each other, and the knockdown took my card to 114-111.MarkMcBurney wrote: ↑28 Feb 2022, 15:42Had it 4-2 Catterall at half way and all square after 10, with Josh winning the last two.
Minus the knockdown I felt Taylor drew the second half, and that's not contentious, but to have him winning you need to limit Catterall to 4 in the first half and then just 8. I didn't see Taylor dominating the second half like that, nor sharing 3 each in the first.

Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
i had fury even with mcdermott in the first fight. the most overhyped "robbery" ever. Even if you had John winning, I thought fury won the first 2 and last 2 of a 10 round fight, with many other rounds open to interpretation.

holyfield-valuev and diaz-paulie I were both draws
kurbanov beat liam smith (others thought this too, but were plenty of complaints about kurb winning)

for me that would have to be sugar ray vs hagler
fury-mcdermott...part of the reaction was the absolutely atrocious 98-92 card, which is undefendable. o connor gave john 2 f@cking rounds, crazy stuff

I had Ward beating Kovalev in the first fight, although freely admit that I’d picked Ward beforehand so was probably unconsciously a bit biased in my RBR scoring.
Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
Yeah agreed. And in those type of fights fans can be over generous to the game “servant” types.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑28 Feb 2022, 18:35for me that would have to be sugar ray vs hagler

Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
there's a large minority that scored for ward over kov.....i can see it if you give ward every benefit of the doubt or naturally gravitate toward his style, but kov won it 115-112 for me. maybe if the judges had been split there wouldve been fewer complaints.....you get so many ppl thinking kov won, then the judges shut him out, makes a lotta people feel it was preordained
Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
Hearns won - but I thought the rematch with Leonard was ALOT closer than most people have it. Interestingly all three judges had it razor tight which is how I view it. My scores have varied from actually agreeing with a draw to a Hearns win by 2. ... on a complete aside if Leonard didn't have Pepe Correra in his corner he would have won convincingly. Hearns was fucked for a few rounds after being hurt in the 5th but Leonard was too busy looking for the one punch. Had Angelo been in there I am sure he would have tactically got it much better.
I thought (upon replays - live I thought differently) the Calzaghe just nicked the Robin Reid fight - but then live I scored Kessler vs Calzaghe a draw.
And "here goes" Sven Ottke BASED ON THE REFS POINTS DEDUCTIONS beat Robin Reid. Now, I did not agree with those point deductions. General consensus seems to be that Reid won by about 5 irrespective of the ref - no, no chance. Reid would have won had there been no point deductions, but not by wide enough a cushion to have those point deductions.
In other "robbery" fights.
Beltran beat Burns
Dirrell beat Froch
Jones beat Johnny Nelson - the three above were CLEAR wins also.
Hopkins beat Calzaghe (yes I am in the minority on this forum I know)
And I will say - Klitchscko vs Fury was bloody close - no more than a round either way and the more I watch it the more I go did Fury do enough?

I had Bradley Marquez a draw. Most had Bradley winning easy.

I had horn beating pac.... But im Australian and was well and truly on the beers.
Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
I had Horn beating Pacman.
I didn't like the way the ref handled things during the break when Horn was struggling.
Horn responded magnificently, but there was something untoward about the refs involvement IMO.

I had teo beating loma around 8-4 or 9-3. Was then hugely surprised to see almost everyone else scoring it around either way albeit mostly in Teo’s favour.
I though he won the first 6 clean and then an equal share of last 6.
Fwiw felt catteral won by same sort of margin on Saturday

Hopkins did outland Calzaghe. It was one of those strange hard to score fights. I actually watched the whole thing on slo motion after. Joe missed a large amount of punches and Hopkins landed lots of clean counters. Popkins antics in the fight were very shameful however and I’m glad Calzaghe got the decision. He was far more up for a fight than Bernard.stujones wrote: ↑28 Feb 2022, 19:39 Hearns won - but I thought the rematch with Leonard was ALOT closer than most people have it. Boxing will be littered with dodgy decisions and we’re only really privy to the ones with higher exposure.
If you took an individual from the planet Zog who knew how to score a fight but knew nothing of the combatants, wonder if he would score Ali any wins in his trilogy fights with Kenny Norton.

Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
Yes I know people throw the compubox numbers saying why JC won, but for me ring generalship was key and Hoplins seemed to have the last say in most exchanges. Yes Joe crawled it back but I thought Hopkins was a decent size winner. Yes I didn't like his tactics in the end but it's not the judges responsibility to dock points. A bit like when people defend Froch against Dirrell.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑01 Mar 2022, 04:53Hopkins did outland Calzaghe. It was one of those strange hard to score fights. Genuine to this day felt that Hopkins lack of urgency and smothering tactics in the latter part of the fight were part due to Roach/Hopkins assuming they were in a commanding lead. Hopkins to this day thinks it was a schooling and Roach didnt even think it was close. The score card who had it Joe wide was a shocker. Given the kd and point deductions I fail to see how anyone can score it Joe wide

Re: Seems I'm the only one... Saturday
absolutely no way hopkins was the ring general in that fight imo. he was totally bossed around, put into a shell, and looked on the verge of tears. he was defo more accurate, but by virtue of being hugely outworked he got well outlanded for me
it was a nice opening 3 rounds from hop, but it went downhill after that. i had been rooting for him in that fight and turned it off before the decision was announced because i thought there was no way he'd done enough....was surprised after to see talk of him winning

He didn’t get out landed at all. Not even close. Like I said I watched it on slow mo. It’s clear who outlanded who.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Mar 2022, 05:46 absolutely no way hopkins was the ring general in that fight imo. he was totally bossed around, put into a shell, and looked on the verge of tears. he was defo more accurate, but by virtue of being hugely outworked he got well outlanded for me
