New WBA Ratings (anomaly with their Russian fighters)

Post by Enlightened-One »

The WBA have published their new ratings.

All the Russian contenders have been stripped of the ranking and replaced with a #nowar hashtag, except for Andranik Grigorian.

Does anybody know the reason why the WBA have included him in their ratings and assigned him with the #PEACE hashtag?

So they’re still ranked.. no one has taken their place.. they’re just replaced with hashtags.

Their names aren't listed on the official website (i.e. the eighth best heavyweight according to the WBA is "someone" called "NOT RATED").

Who’s that supposed to be?

I’m guessing it’s a placeholder for the Russian fighter, Arslanbek Makhmudov.

But why is Andranik Grigorian the exception?

from a look, he was born in armenia and carries the armenian flag in the ring, so maybe something to do with that

Apart from being born in Armenia, everything else about him is Russian (i.e. childhood, residence, nationality, amateur career, WSB, early pro career, nationality from his promoters website etc.).

Unless he’s spoken out against the Russian’s? :maybe:

he carries the armenian flag in the ring......seems proud about being armenian. so maybe at some point he has spoken out against russia and outright claimed that he doesnt consider himself russian? did he speak out against violence in the past or something too perhaps.....maybe related to the armenian-azerbaijan conflict

not sure tbh
