Heavyweights: Gene Tunney vs. Jess Willard

15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Tunney would out-box Willard behind his long left jabs, counters and combinations to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Tunney is too fast and mobile for Willard. He'd win a very wide decision.

Wouldn't Willard's height, reach, and weight advantages be too much?

Maybe, but sometimes size don't matter and like I and Seamus stated that Tunney would not engage Willard on the inside as he out-box him on the outside behind his jabs, counters and combinations to take a decision.

I was just kidding. Tunney would have won easily. If Willard was a modern fighter though, you would be hearing people bringing up the size "advantages", - the go to for fans of recent heavyweights.

I suspect it would be a lot like when Jack Sharkey fought Primo Carnera the first time where Sharkey was able to dodge most of the attacks from the much larger man--- except this would be more one-sided because Willard was more limited than the Italian giant.
