Re: Hearn - As bitter as the rest?
People are obsessed with Hearn, Any time a big fight gets made everyone's asking why Eddie hasn't commented, Fury/Whyte technically has nothing to do with him yet people are infatuated on his opinion, the guys got boxing on strings whether your a fan or despise him
He's put on some poor shows sure, who hasn't? especially someone as prolific as Matchroom but the day he starts getting sued left right and centre then declaring himself bankrupt before setting up shop again then I'm gonna say he's a good guy
The fella Dev Sahni who works for Queensbury put up a tweet yesterday digging at Hearn because "Warren" is putting on Fury/Whyte, fair enough but he could've waited until Eddie had finished the Canelo/Bivol presser

Brook and his team made the Crawford fight behind Eddie's back then came running back to Eddie when they couldn't get a TV deal, Eddie told them to bolt, rightfully somickey1975 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2022, 04:41 Will he answer how many UK subscribers DAZN have? I know they are but that doesn’t change the fact that Eddie will almost certainly have an NDA re: DAZN subscriber numbers.mickey1975 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2022, 04:47DAZN UK are a long, long way away from Sky!maverick23 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2022, 04:45Of course he won’t answer that. I'll always prefer Frank simply because he came from nothing and he's still here. He took on The Cartel, Don King, got shot! Come on lads, he's resilient! Plus my pro boxer friends say he's much better to work with. I liked Duff as well. He sat and talked to me for an hour, twice, as much as he'd talk to Bob Arum, I was 16.

I believe he may have done the same with the seconds out forum which was active before the boxrec forum came on the scene. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong

unless it's Canelo the it's $$$
TBH, by that time, Sky was hardly putting on late night boxing unless it was a HUGE fight.
DAZN was just starting out I think in the UK in terms of subs, but Hearn was still exclusive to Sky in the UK at the time.

Re: Hearn - As bitter as the rest?
I used to love Frank when I first started watching boxing as he seemed to be the only one putting on regular big shows whilst the rest were usually in leisure centres or York Hall (nothing wrong with that) and he was an excellent promoter.mickey1975 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2022, 05:16 I'll always prefer Frank simply because he came from nothing and he's still here. What’s inexcusable though is him not paying his fighters (like he did with Ricky Burns and others). He may be resilient but I lost all respect I had for him with that. With Burns the judge said FW was untruthful, unrealistic, unreliable and gave shockingly poor quality of disclosure. He was Burns’ promoter and co-manager and really screwed him by just phoenixing his company again. The BBBC should have done more about it really.
You may take that as being resilient, I take that as being unethical and I would say the same about any promoter who did similar.

He's a boxing promoter, being bitter and chatting shit is in the job description. Admittedly some excel more than others in these two areas...

I don't know how any boxing fan can prefer Warren - The lengths Warren went to avoid paying fighters is deplorable, and the lowest of the low when it comes to what goes on in boxing.
I will never be a supporter of that kind of action.

I’m sure that’s true for over 99% of fighters he’s worked with over the years but that doesn’t change the fact that boxers have fought on his shows, taken punishment and haven’t been paid.mickey1975 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2022, 10:13He's paid everyone I've ever been close to, from ppv world title fights down to journeymen. That’s as bad as it gets for me from a promoter.
