how much of today's stuff do you watch, in comparison to boxing of the past?

and do you have the same passion for boxing you used to?

I only watch classic fights. Current boxing is a bad joke with too many Mickey Mouse titles. The boxers are just long beards and ugly tattoos. I have been a ringside photographer for 20 years, but I have walked away in disgust.

maybe it's a generational thing ?
what year were you all born in ?
I use to watch live boxing on TV religiously
USA Tuesday Night Fights, ESPN Boxing,HBO and Showtime etc
watched every single live boxing match on cable and (big) satellite dish.
until ( for some reason) about 15 years ago.
wasnt intererested in Floyd Mayweather's career at all
( even tho some of the people I worked with talked about his fights all the time at lunch-time)

Not much, and
No

The talent pool is shallow, the hype machine ridiculous, and with boxing broadcasts it isn't so much what's wrong with them, as what's right with them. Bar the actual in-ring action, every second is an insult to the intelligence.

As much as I can, there’s still plenty of good stuff to watch from all over, Gonzales v Martinez this weekend is a mouthwatering match up, yes there’s always stuff to moan about but with countless platforms showing boxing from all over the world if you can’t find good quality fights to watch then there’s something wrong.

I don't watch a lot. Only in my mid teens to late teens was I religiously following the happenings in boxing. I have always been more about the history, both reading and watching ATG fighters. I still try to catch big fights every now and then but I can't remember the last time I paid to watch a fight. Before I had some iron deficiency problems I was going through the process of becoming a ref. Where I live there isn't many so I saw it as a great way to get involved in a sport I do love but more importantly I believe/d that I could help a lot of over matched fighters from taking beatings as a ref. Some of our refs here let one guy get beat from pillar to post for far too long. Once I deal with my iron issue I will probably look at getting back into it.

If I hear some good things about current guys I like to go on youtube and watch a bunch of their fights.

I used to ingest everything boxing. Every book, magazine, live show...

I'm not sure why, maybe the politics of boxing has left a sour taste, my reluctance to follow the social media circus which comes hand in hand with this generation, or that I'm getting older so don't bother watching all of the undercards as I used to.

I spend most of my time watching the old fights on YouTube now. I will still watch the big shows but I'm just not impressed with this generation / era of boxing.

I'd say I watch 4 or 5 old fights for every contemporary one I watch, I wouldn't be surprised if that's representative of the folks on this forum outside of CS

Everything I possibly can. Watch the odd classic.

Yes. Love boxing as much as I ever did. Fell out of love with the sport during the Roy Jones years but came back after 10 years.

I do not watch current boxing anymore. Only, for example, when fury fights wilder or so, i watch the highlights on youtube the next day. but i still watch the old fights often. i think the history of boxing is huge and great and theres is still very much to discover. but to be honst, i often wathch the same thing again and again.

I'm hooked-I watch every fight from 4 rounders up; however, I don't watch women's boxing at all. Boxing is the only sport I watch with the exception of the Super Bowl and MLB All-Star game.

ya same here, it can be frustrating as hell sometimes, but still no sport like it for me and you gotta keep watching to be able to properly judge the past to the present :bag:

Less than I've ever watched since becoming a die hard fan in 2001. I no longer have a satellite at the moment so I have access to fewer channels, I hate streaming services so the day won't come that I get DAZN or ESPN+ or any of that bullsh*t. I just want to watch goddamn TV, pick up a remote and watch stuff, not have to subscribe to 15 different streaming services to see the sport I like.

Last year, I watched the Pac vs Ugas PPV, The Canelo vs Plant PPV and the Fury vs Wilder 3 PPV, and that's all the Boxing I recall watching in the entirety of the year.

This year so far, I've yet to watch any Boxing....Well...any current stuff that is.

I count myself lucky to be around at a time, when it's possible to follow most of the big fights live in the comfort of my living room... or at least the next day on YouTube.

A far cry from when I started out as a fan in the early 60s... where I couldn't watch anything at all in my part of the world (Denmark), and had to wait for weeks (or months) just to get the results from the various magazines I was subscribing to.

Yes, it's a great time to be a boxing fan!

Nowhere near as much as I used to. I'm certainly not up to speed with all the modern fighters like I would have been in the mid 80s, 90s and 2000s. I used to be fanatical about it, bought any and every magazine on boxing I could get, import record books and fights from abroad, getting up at stupid hours to watch fights etc.. None of that now, just watch fights that interest me and even then I don’t go out my way too much if awkward. I listen to boxing podcast a fair bit now though, easy listening in the car, train, walks etc
