Re: Biggest fight of the year?
From a commercial perspective, the third Canelo-GGG bout is probably the biggest from those listed in the poll.
However, I have this sneaking suspicion that Oleksandr Usyk is going to be inactive for the remainder of the year, due to his war effort in the Ukraine.
And if this happens, then I really do feel that we might get to see a Fury-Joshua bout within the next six to eight months, which might be big enough to generate more revenue than September’s Canelo-GGG III event.
Assuming Tyson beats Whyte next month, then who else can Fury and Joshua fight and earn big bucks from?
The fight should be easy to make, because I think that Fury will probably be a free agent by May.
I also feel that the handlers of Fury and Joshua will both want to make this bout as soon as possible, because the fight will lose its appeal to the mainstream masses if AJ decides instead to wait for Usyk and subsequently loses the rematch.
This could be one of those rare occasions whereby the handlers might be more eager to make a bout than their own fighters.
They’ll be opportunistically looking to exploit Usyk’s situation in the Ukraine, because they know that if they don’t, then the Fury-Joshua will probably never be made, because it’ll be a far less commercially-attractive proposition if AJ has three recent losses on his record.

AJ vs fury for one belt is tricky though...I imagine fury would want to Be a cobsiderable A-side. And fair enough.

I think that AJ would be reasonable enough to expect to be the B-side, but not by a huge margin, because he brings a lot of revenue with him to the negotiation table.gregregegg wrote: ↑07 Mar 2022, 07:23 AJ vs fury for one belt is tricky though...I imagine fury would want to Be a cobsiderable A-side. I suspect Joshua would probably expect between a 40% to 45% purse split.
When you’re as commercially-popular as AJ, then his name is worth more than the belts.

Grudgingly it has to be Canelo Vs the ghost of GGG.
I can't imagine what sort of sick bastard wants to watch a prime P4P monster belt a 40 year old, 6 years past prime guy about the ring- and pay for the privilege.
You would have to be the sort that got a kick out of torturing small animals as a kid.

Interesting that Canelo vs GGG is the clear winner on the pole so far. its my vote to to be fair. At this point its a missmatch and its on a completly unproven PPV structure.
I wonder what kind of garrentees DAZN have offered canelo and GGG, will they start to panic if Canelo vs bivol flops due to DAZNs fan base wanting the death of PPV.
