As said Calzaghe was too strong for the early opponents, he left them on their feet like Trash Khan...but they were seriously blitzed...unlike Trash Khans

And as for a big punch being a fighters worst enemy it can also be the get out of jail card also and at world level...especially a 10stone fighter its a must have thing...maybe not a devastating KO punch but one that gains respect....unless your Calderon or Winky type boxers......and when has Trash Khan ever shown that type of smooth skills

One of the first things a top amateur is taught when turning over to the pros is to be more economical with both the movement and punch rate. What worked for Khan in the amateurs was quick feet and throwing punches in numbers. But he sets his attacks up too far out of range for it to work at a higher level in the pros IMO. 8 fights in, he is still scampering in and out, missing more than he should and getting tied up much more than he should.

He doesn't need to take 3 steps back and then launch his attacks because his momentum is always going to carry him into a clinch. If he made small adjustments to the way he sets up his attacks ie. 1 step back ,out of his opponents range but within his, let them fall short and his feet are already set. I feel he probably has more power than people think but moves and bounces too much for it to tell.

People are right in saying, he is only 19 and the opposition is as it should be, but the worrying thing is that he has 8 fights under his belt and he is still doing the same things. Either he's not being taught right or he's not listening. I am sure he aching to move on up to the next level, but basic bad habits are going to be very hard to correct as he gains more experience.

As I said before a couple of years in the States with a top coach, quality sparring and out of the distractions of the celebrity bubble he's in at the moment will push him on to reaching his potential.

Last thing, comparing him to some of the greatest pro fighters who were quality amateurs, like Ray leonard in unfair. He's not ever going to achieve what he has. I watched a tape of the 'The Class of '84' American Olympic Gold Medallists who boxed on the same pro bill after they had a couple of pro fights and they looked accomplished then. These were Pernell Whitaker, Evander Holyfield and Meldrick Taylor.

I think tehnically, Khan has gone backwards since he turned pro. He hurt guys in the am's firing sharp stinging combos. Since he turned pro people have been telling him to "sit down on his punches", and he hasn't had the same snap to me. He needs go to America or its only a matter of time before a guy with real hunger beats him up. He's just having things too easy at the minute.
