'ambling' is certainly fitting, but he was also a huge strong guy with a decent jab. only stopped in his prime by atg punchers, and he kept getting up, and in the baer fight would come back to win some rounds between knockdowns

i think coop, while a dangerous puncher, is not elusive enough to last the distance outboxing him or powerful enough to more often than not take out the much bigger man first
