Good fighters with rat tails

Post by JamesPhilips »

I think we’ve had mullets. But what about boxers with rat tails?

I just watched Rich the Boxing Historian’s channel and this excellent vid on Jesse James Hughes which made me think of this as there are two for one: Jesse James himself and Adrian Stone.

Others I can think of:

Kostya Tszyu
Michael Carbajal
Kerman Lejarraga
(Poss) Alex Garcia

I’m sure there are many more - there were some tough U.K. journeymen too - like Peter Buckley? and Ricky Beard

Any other candidates? (It’s a slow boxing news week! )

I don't recall Alex Garcia ever sporting a rat's tail.

Jorge Luis Gonzalez however...

Eamon Magee and Darren Corbett had them in
Their early days. Early 90s Chav look.

Not sure why I had an image of Edwin Valero with a rats tail.

Seems I’ve lumped several dodgy hairstyles into the rats tail camp.

I seem to recall Barry McGuigan had one early on in his pro career.

You're right he did early on! Dave Macauley certainly did.

Didn’t Daniel Ponce De Leon have one? He seems like the type of fella to have one.

I am pretty sure the Mongolian Brits both had one - Shinny Bayaar and Choi - what are they doing with themselves these days? I hope they're well! :salut:

How could we forget Slammin Sammy Scaff? Got a good view of the rat tail as he was laying face down after Tyson clobbered him.

Yep, I'd forgotten that, but thinking about it, MacAuley's was even better than Barry's.
