They've applied for 100,000 now.... Whyte has played a blinder creating headlines with his silence. And it will make the final presser ten times bigger.

Don’t forget this fight is being staged under a purse bid. I can’t see those things being put in a purse bid contract.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 12:01If Whytes purse is fixed and he isn't getting any PPV money (This is what I've heard, correct me if I'm wrong), then I don't see why he should turn up to promote the fight and make everyone else money when he doesn't have to. "Everyone turns up for press conferences" is a flimsy argument. I think Whyte outplayed them and caught them by surprise and having no build up between the fighters will definitely affect PPV sales. I'm sure this will be rectified in future contracts because Wazza got stung here by Whyte. I wonder if mandatory attendance at press conferences and press interviews can be put into contracts.emallini wrote: ↑04 Mar 2022, 17:00Such a weird opinion. Everyone turns up for press conferences.jimmystone wrote: ↑04 Mar 2022, 02:32
Why would you fly all the way from Portugal for a press conference you were not contractually obliged to attend and would draw no benefit from whatsoever? Whyte would be disrespecting himself by showing up IMO and that's a lot worse than 'disrespecting' the YouTubers who are making a living out of his sweat.

Think his silence has done it the world of good , created much more interest than talking bollocks at a conferenceRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 17:44The contract was signed after the purse bid was won.Frostieballs wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 14:46Don’t forget this fight is being staged under a purse bid. Hopefully not talking trash like a pissed up 14 yr old off the estate will catch on.
Whyte could be setting a new trend; similar to the old time fighters who showed respect to their opponents.

except, he’s not doing it to show respect.
And Yu won’t see this often. If he an any upside of the PPV, he’d be at the presser.

I don't know how long you've followed boxing for, obviously not long, but trash talking has gone on for years.

Old time fighters weren’t able to manipulate social media and 24hr news channels to publicise their fights and increase their share of the spoils.
I’m sure that 99% of fighters would rather lock themselves away in camp and not have to do any of the media nonsense or manufacture fake beefs with opponents if by doing so their purse was unaffected.
I’m also sure that 99% of fighters will happily engage in trash talk and play the media game if it increases their earnings. In the PPV world we live in controversy and faux enmity attracts viewers

Exactly.maverick23 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 06:44It was a standard contract. They tried a non-standard contract which was rejected.
Whyte has signed a standard purse bid contract in which no stipulation is made for him to attend press conferences etc.
As I said earlier, I can’t see standard purse bid contracts being changed to include this.
The whole point of them is to provide a basic framework to work under, when two parties haven’t been able to otherwise reach an agreement.
Whyte is under no obligation, moral or legal, to build the fight.
He’s not happy with the terms. Why would he?

I don’t really disagree. There might be something vague in the contract whereby the fighters should help in the promotion hence Frank threatening to get his lawyers involved.Frostieballs wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 08:34Exactly.maverick23 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 06:44It was a standard contract. I don’t think I’ve heard of any contracts which have a ‘attend all press’ clause.maverick23 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 08:38I don’t really disagree. Of course; its all part and parcel of selling the show. It is silly though isn`t it .. most know its fake 99% of the time.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 08:06Old time fighters weren’t able to manipulate social media and 24hr news channels to publicise their fights and increase their share of the spoils.

I feel Whyte is playing a blinder by playing his game 100% so far. Whether this affects Fury is unknown - but Whyte will take confidence from it.

They are fairly basic. And in my experience only cover the necessary points to get the fighters in the ring.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 08:40I don’t think I’ve heard of any contracts which have a ‘attend all press’ clause.maverick23 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 08:38I don’t really disagree. They aren’t designed to ensure the commercial success of a fight.

Remember when Haye wouldn't be in the same room as Wlad for the interviews? High comedy.

No offense to Tony but he has always been a very harsh critic of Tyson Fury. And what is he going to say anyways, "Fury is going to win the fight easily?," no because that isn't going to sell the fight at all. They have to try to make an all British showdown sound far more competitive than it most likely will be.

Plus it’s heavyweight boxing. I wouldn’t be particularly “surprised” if Whyte did manage to ko Fury. Or Joshua or Wilder. But that doesn’t mean I think it’s likely.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑18 Mar 2022, 09:06No offense to Tony but he has always been a very harsh critic of Tyson Fury. Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte | BT PPV - 23 April 2022
I wouldn't be surprised either.
Tyson has been down before plenty. Every fight takes something out of you. Whyte can punch at the highest level.
But going into the fight, the most likely outcome is Tyson either outboxing Whyte or alternatively stopping him through an accumlation of shots.

Tony has no interest in selling the fight. He also said he'd beat Tyson when Tyson first came back. And recently that Fury is the number one heavyweight. And AJ could still knock him out. I think we need to stop listening to Boomer.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑18 Mar 2022, 09:06No offense to Tony but he has always been a very harsh critic of Tyson Fury. Hammer is just willing to rack up his losses for payday after payday isn't he. The question is not whether Anderson will win but whether he can knock him out or not and save us from an ugly 12 rounds.
