Sandor Martin and Kerman Lejarraga headline Matchroom Spain cards in April and May

Two of Spanish boxing's most exciting names return to the ring live on DAZN.

Matchroom will then head to the hometown of another on Friday May 20th where Kerman Lejarraga (34-2, 26 KOs) takes on another British rival James Metcalf (21-2, 13 KOs) at the Bilbao Arena, Bilbao.

Following a brutal KO win in December, ‘The Revolver’ will be looking to pull the trigger on another standout performance which would propel him towards a first world title shot.

“I am happy to return to Bilbao before a great fight,” said Lejarraga.

“I have the feeling that there are going to be many at the Bilbao Arena.

“In a few days I will be traveling to Las Vegas with my trainer with the intention of continuing to grow as a boxer.

“I'm ready for a World championship, my team knows it. I said yes to Charrat and I say yes to all the options they work with Matchroom. On May 20, against Metcalf we will see that I want great fights.”

“We’re really excited to be returning to Spain with these two consecutive events, live on DAZN,” said Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith.

“There is absolutely no doubt that Spanish boxing is in the healthiest position it has ever been in – with huge wins by last year for Sandor Martin, Kerman Lejarraga and of course Kiko Martinez.

"We want to ride that wave and keep delivering big events to the market! The atmosphere in Barcelona and Bilbao is always special and we look forward to two massive events over the coming months”

Good fight. Both are usually aggressive, Lejarraga is on the slide and Metcalf is around/just below British title level. Can’t see this being anything other than a war.

It will be an amazing atmosphere in Bilbao, however I fancy Metcalf, he punches to hard for the Spaniard.

Did he lose the last one, Lejaragga? I remember a fight he won against a French lad who boxed well but got injury TKO’d or something. Think he may have lost one since then

No - he’s won every fight since Avanesyan. Beat Flatley in his last fight and Charrat on a TD before that.

Metcalf lost his last 2 and gets a shot at the EBU champ? Makes sense.

God knows. But you get the point. This is just a Eddie Hearn filler main event.
Should be in with Conway or Williamson 100x over Metcalf.

Yep. I think they ordered the Charrat rematch which he didn’t want.

I don’t disagree but I still think it’s a good fight.

Charrat that’s the one, he boxed nicely. Really nice respect from Kerman after the fight getting his fans to applaud Charrat.

with kerm getting bounced off the canvas by jezz smith, i cant have full confidence in him vs anyone half decent tbh. metcalf is still a risky opponent for him at this stage id say

Lejarraga clearly dosnt liked his Brits.....this will be the 7th one he beats if he comes through. Vassell, Skeete, Gavin, Flatley, Nurse and Smith all beaten by him. Think Nurse was the only one who didn't get knocked out. Really wish Troy Williamson got this fight. Styles would have been perfect.

I'd fancy Williamson to take out Kerman but it would be a good watch while it lasted! Metcalf should also provide an entertaining clash, Lejarraga usually brings excitement one way or another.

Yeah.....Williamson V Lejarraga would be a war while it lasted. Proper TV fight. Just about every punch these lads throw has ko intentions. Seems he has vacated EBU belt. Troy V Spike would be a decent scrap for it.

Think he vacated for a world title eliminator which this will very likely become once Charlo/Castano has happened. The WBA trinket will push him up the rankings to fight the Madrimov/Soro rematch winner for the vacant. Same thing with the other, Sandor Martin, Spanish card. That has a WBA trinket involved aswell that'll push him up the rankings to fight Puello for the vacant when Taylor likely vacates.

It's essentially a couple of cheap filler cards but gets a couple of world titles under Matchroom control.

Not a fan of the Lejarraga/Metcalf fight?

The Sandor Martin is pretty poor.

The atmosphere in Bilbao will be amazing too, actually while It is colder and more expensive than most Spanish cities, it would be a great trip, best food in Spain, proper nice place, between everything, this is guaranteed to be a great fight I would really recommend the trip.

Can see lejarraga bombing metcalf out in this one. He just seems to out tough all of our lads, but with williamson it'd be different- mini war ending before the 6th round with the spaniard knocked out.
