I read Capes’ autobiography years ago. It was actually very entertaining. Lots of stories of post competition epic pub crawls and brawls. I think they were easily as good as these two jokers fighting. Just needed the modern day juice. Strongman has got to be second only to bodybuilding as the most PED filled sport. I really think it must be.

Many of the heroes I had growing up are now deflated like balloons once they got off the gas or they got tremendously fat. Even with the steroids though they had to consume an enormous amount of protein and work hard like crazy to even achieve half the stuff they did but it's still disappointing finding out that the vast majority or all of them were on performance enhancing drugs.
I think they were all on the Eastern Block model of probably loads of testosterone and steroids. But growth hormone hadn’t come along yet or a huge amount of sports science, so they were winging it in a sense.
Growth hormone has zero effect on building muscle.

Why does it disappoint you? They don’t pretend to be natty. It’s entirely your own projection that they are that leads to disappointment Rufus.
The top powerlifters are juicers unless they are in the IPF. They admit to it if you follow the sport closely enough.
The top strongmen of course are on gear. Katz, JPS, Eddie, Thor Ffs man. They have to be to get where they want to be. They do it for them, not you or polecats fantasies.
My mates trained by a former Britain’s strongest man. The guy makes his own gear and sells it to his clients. Most of them do. It’s just the way it is.
As an adult I'm not disappointed because I know the reality of things but growing up as a kid it was disappointing finding out that so many of them were on performance enhancing drugs is what I am saying.
That being said this is why I will continue to say that Paul Anderson is still to my mind the strongest man in history because he existed before the worldwide selling of steroids.

thor had no problems, should've been obvious from their different approaches to the fight that it would play out in thor's favour
considering he's a strongman and not a boxer, i thought thor was okay actually. jabbed and move okay for giant with little experience. there was actually some schooling there

I was pretty confident in Thor if he made it through the first, and I guess in hindsight I should've bet in-play at that point. But then for all I knew he might've dominated it and crushed his value.
