Hopefully big mick is still part of the Picture.

Wasserman mentioned exclusivity in their press release which makes me think that Hennessy no longer have any kind of deal with channel 5.

It’s all been quiet from Team Hennessy since from what I can tell.

Dreadful for mick. Zero loyalty in boxing.

I think Mick is up against it at the moment with the promotion game. He is a fighter so hope he can sort things out.

Channel 5 won’t have loyalty to anyone. All they’ll care about is getting value for money in terms of their viewers, ad revenue and cost of the show.

Boxing also comes with added complications of the show ending early or running late and potential late pullouts so it’s more ‘risky’ than other sports.

I feel a bit sorry for Mick but mostly I feel sorry for his team and fighters. I hope Sam Eggintgton in particular finds a route to fighting on TV again. They put on some really good fights last year. I guess Kalle played the Wasserman card and that having Jermain Defoe (he genuinely said that) could drive more attention/viewers. The sad thing is that it’s probably true - Mick did little in the way of meaningful promotion.

You've got to ask if Meaty Mick is the problem. He's had deals with everyone, BBC, ITV, C5, Sky, Primetime, his own website.... Tyson Fury, Carl Froch, Barker, Degale...
He's put on several fights of the year and still gets the sack.

He doesn’t actually do much meaningful promotion or have much of a profile.

Compared to Kalle who’ll be selling the Wasserman dream to Channel 5, it’s tough for him to compete.

It’s a big deal for Wasserman and for die hard hard fans. For channel 5, it’s small fry.

If you’ve got one promoter who puts on entertaining fights (he did last year but hadn’t always) with no promotion and another saying they’ll do the same but have a company with sports stars that will drive promotion and engagement for the show then unfortunately it’s a no brainer for channel 5.

Their focus will be on viewers and ad revenue - not quality of fights.

Wasn't the Bute fight with Hearn? That was the one he jumped into the ring early wasn't it?

Yep - it was. I think Mick means Pascal. If so, it only did 2.9m viewers. That’s great for modern boxing but not for Saturday night on ITV.

Shalom, Warren and to a lesser degree Hearn have been putting on total poo cards. I’d say washerman will be garbage too. Fat mick for the win.

The last ITV show (not live) where Hennessy was involved was Froch v Taylor...and what a fight that was.

The "is this the end for Hennessy" posts have been going for over 15 years...on this very website !

Mick's been written off so many times you couldn't keep count of them.

I’d pick a Hennessy show over the majority of FW’s shows. Frank does have the ability to big fight together though which Mick has struggled with in recent years.

DAZN’s shows have been good this year whilst Sky have had crap undercards with really good main events.

Wasserman will have a few good fights but bar the WBSS their shows have often been poor and I’d imagine their channel 5 shows will be a real mixed bag.

Ultimately regardless of the quality of the fights Mick is the only one with shades of Ali running through his veins and that has to be respected.

It may be that Wasserman is exclusive to Channel 5 - but not the other way round.

Perhaps but I highly doubt it.
