Danny Williams

Post by daz74 »

I’ve seen clips today from Adam Smith and Spencer from Sky saying it’s disgraceful that Danny is still allowed to fight. This gets on my goat. There’s thousands of journeymen fighters across the globe, why is Danny not allowed to be one anymore ?

he's nearly 50, been ko'd 16 times, been fighting pro for 27 years, and shown awful punch resistance and ability to defend himself. prime was almost 20 years ago. doesn't annoy me that ppl don't think he should fight anymore.

most journeymen are much younger, have taken much less punishment, and defend themselves better. those who are as old, shot, and easy to hurt and hit as danny should retire too

He didn't take too much punishment in his latest outing.

I think it's a disgrace that those two clowns are allowed to commentate on boxing.

As for Danny. Yeah sad. But he's a grown man, and it's the only way he can pay for his 30 year old daughter's school fees....

That fight looks in a gym with no crowd. Very odd. The other fighter seems to know the score and holds back a bit on headshots and aims for the body.

Realistically when do you stop paying for your kids?
School? University? Deposit for a flat?

I don't see how he's earning enough for himself fighting in gyms in Europe, let alone to pay school fees for grown women! And they want a deposit for a flat, presumably in London. And probably pocket money! My kids got a trust fund each that matured when they were 18. About 10k. One pissed it up the wall. In fact, I don't even know what he did with it and don't want to because I'll get annoyed. He had a dodgy bird at the time....

I feel sorry for him because he would probably struggle to start a new career now, he is 48 years old and only knows boxing. I also wonder how damaged he is, almost 90 pro fights at HW when you are years past your best won't be good for his health. His last fight in the UK was in 2010 so there must be a reason he is fighting abroad now, maybe he knows he wouldn't pass a medical in the UK. Everyone needs money and unfortunately he doesn't appear to have many options.

To be fair Micky most of us would have done the same at 18, far too young for most people to have that kind of dough, kid I used to knock about with got a similar amount for getting badly assaulted but this was over 25 years ago when 10k was a lot of money, spunked the lot in a couple of months.

The government set them up, a gave you double if on benefits, plus a top up when they reached 7. The Tory soon put paid to that scheme.

Must have been 13 years since Danny found himself trapped in a corner shop worn.

Well it's going to be Dave Allen who will be providing the money for all this education as Allen has said he will give Williams a cut of his future purses if he packs in fighting.

Sometimes people need protecting from themselves though. I don’t think it’s any coincidence he hasn’t boxed in the U.K. since 2010, he would probably fail the medical over here.
