Re: Round-by-Round: Savannah Marshall vs. Femke Hermans | Sky Sports - 2 April 2022
Has sheilds ever been hurt boxing? So hard to guess how someone's chin is in women's because normally they can take about 50 clean shots before they get hurt, and if your good you never take that many clean shots...
Her chin (and core I guess) will be pretty important. She may outbox savanna but she will get hit, not expecting her to take a nap strait away, but if she gets hurt even a little bit that evens up the boxing and gives more chance to land again.
Savanna dosent have to stop her to win, but I think she definately has to hurt her to win.

From what I’ve seen of both, Shields will see Marshall’s punches coming a mile off.
I don’t think the power angle will come into it.

Too many unknowns on both sides, only answerable when they fight. No idea about Shields' chin, and although they've shown good engines previously, that's been under far less pressure, mental and physical.
If Shields can take the odd fair whack it's interesting. If I were Fury I'd tell Marshall to test her straight away, and if she throws back just return to the usual. Because I think there's a possibility of Shields being physically outmatched to the point of just covering up, hoping Marshall blows herself out while giving her free shots.
All we know is that Marshall hits harder and Shields is faster, and probably slicker if she isn't overawed. Seems reasonable to guess Marshall's afraid of being outboxed, and Shields of being outpunched. They've both enough talent and pride to dig in, which is a promising sign for a headliner.
Marshall becomes an overnight celeb in the UK if she wins, and she's too old to wait around to beat the next star, so I'd expect her to retire and work as a trainer with Fury, doing the odd telly thing around it.

Very very very hard to not get hit when you have zero power to hold someone off. She's going to get hit. So I think it's going to matter what effect that has.

FIrst fight was one of the biggest robberies in boxing history
Re: Round-by-Round: Savannah Marshall vs. Femke Hermans | Sky Sports - 2 April 2022
X2 she absolutely stole that belt of the longest reigning LW female champ ever. And just like Josh Taylor, she told all and sundry she won.
She lost me that night.

Although I don't think it was the worst robbery Iv seen, I thought person won both... So the double is extra harsh.
Hope Amanda serano fights persoon when she beats Katey.

Marshall just cold cocked in 3 rounds the woman Shields went the distance with!
Is Clarissa Shields the James Toney of women's boxing?
Re: Round-by-Round: Savannah Marshall vs. Femke Hermans | Sky Sports - 2 April 2022
She might not have power but she is clearly physically strong, distance minded, and has a pretty sound technique, unlike the latest tomato can Marshall boxed last night.gregregegg wrote: ↑02 Apr 2022, 19:58Very very very hard to not get hit when you have zero power to hold someone off. As many big punchers have found over the years, it’s very hard to knock someone out when you can’t land clean punches. Marshall is facing a significant speed deficit.

Shields isn't hard to hit and Marshall hits hard. I'd take Marshall to win handily.

Yea, im not saying i think shes a lock for a KO. Im saying savana will land enough that i think how Clarissa takes savanas power will be an important factor.Kilburn wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 03:06She might not have power but she is clearly physically strong, distance minded, and has a pretty sound technique, unlike the latest tomato can Marshall boxed last night.gregregegg wrote: ↑02 Apr 2022, 19:58Very very very hard to not get hit when you have zero power to hold someone off. If she Is girls-Kahn id guess savanna knocks her out... If she was girl-Tua i guess clarisa outpoints savana. But as far as i know shes going to be somewhere in the middle, so i find it hard to know if savanna is likely to hurt her.

But surely this theory is based on Shields actually getting hit flush repeatedly? This is a pretty key area I think Marshall will really struggle with, which would be pretty significant for the outcome of the fight.gregregegg wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 03:17Yea, im not saying i think shes a lock for a KO. Some folks will have you believe this is the womens equivalent of Bowe v Hide.

ya i get what you mean. savy can punch for a lady (though she's more of a clubber/thumper than the reincarnation of julian jackson that some would have you believe) but tbh she's a bit lumbering and i wont be surprised if shields out boxes her pretty clearly
i also think sav's opponents have been pretty trashy tbh. could even one of them fight decently? most also didnt even have any business fighting at that weight and were short chubbers
i wonder if losing to marshall before affects shields at all though? she seems like the type who would be really insecure about a loss, and i think that's her only one

Her own self importance wouldn’t let her be upstaged. But they were asking her the usual stupid questions and she was reacting as expected. Makes for an interesting fight, though I still think womens boxing is absolutely fckin dire.KiwiRider wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 02:52That was baffling!ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 02:43Strange interview afterwards, asking Shields if Marshall is the biggest puncher in woman’s boxing. Re: Round-by-Round: Savannah Marshall vs. Femke Hermans | Sky Sports - 2 April 2022
I dunno if she would need multiple clean shots to hurt her. I would say right now theres a bigger gap between savanas power, and the 2nd most powerfull female boxer of any note , than there has ever been between the most powerfull male boxer and the 2nd most powerfull male boxer... Makes it very hard to predict how people will take her shots.Kilburn wrote: ↑03 Apr 2022, 03:53But surely this theory is based on Shields actually getting hit flush repeatedly? Also in womens boxing nearly noone learns defence... A combo of 2 min rounds and not enough power means people just fornicating throw 20 punch combos in the pocket half the time.
Bit different to bowe vs hide, because Clarissa dosent have power... bowe could whack enough to keep anyone honest.

Re: Round-by-Round: Savannah Marshall vs. Femke Hermans | Sky Sports - 2 April 2022
savannah mostly clubs down much naturally smaller opponents, who cant fight and shouldnt be near that weight - as is very often the case with women fighting at 160. hanah rankin took loads from her before being stopped. shields is absolutely leagues better than anyone she has fought and will be much tougher to hit. shields isnt some short chubster either
good power for a woman is getting hyped liked its some type of legendary jackson+ wilder 1 shotters or something
as i mentioned earlier, amanda serrano has stopped tons of opponents, many early, and vs much better opposition who are actually suited for the weight. hardly gets a word about being some sort of gawd like power puncher like sav though
