Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Ryota Murata | DAZN - April 9, 2022
Re: Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Ryota Murata | DAZN - April 9, 2022
If Alimkhanuly wins against Dignum and Andrade leaves the WBO middleweight, I will like to see a Qazaq derby between GGG and Qanibeg.

yep. super tough dude Murata
Re: Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Ryota Murata | DAZN - April 9, 2022
Foiling Murata like that is only a GGG thing. And don't forget what Rolls has recently done with Berlanga; at least it is now clear a prime GGG was something out of this world, I hope.

first time Murata's been stopped too. 40 is too old to face Canelo though.

Both are things that I am exactly striving forEnlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 08:49Alimkhanuly beats the current past-his-prime iteration of GGG.
It would be a fun fight though.

Gennadiy Golovkin rocks Ryota Murata to unify middleweight titles, moves closer to third Canelo Alvarez fight
Gennadiy Golovkin is inching closer to a long-awaited trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez.
One day after he turned 40, Golovkin captured a second middleweight title with a ninth-round stoppage of Ryota Murata on Saturday at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) withstood some early rocky moments but turned the tide for good in Round 5 when he sent Murata's mouthpiece flying with one of his vaunted looping right hands.
The future Hall of Famer began to push Murata back while he unloaded punishment on the Japanese star. The first punch Golovkin threw in Round 9, a powerful right hand, was the beginning of the end.
Murata (16-3, 13 KOs) was on unsteady legs as he attempted to survive along the ropes while Golovkin feinted and let his hands go looking for the fight-ending shot.
The 36-year-old was able to absorb the attack for a few moments before he landed a couple of punches on a seemingly exhausted Golovkin, who then floored Murata with another right hand, prompting the corner to throw in the towel for the stoppage victory.

Golovkin isn't what he used to be, but he's still a world class fighter, however, he gets eaten alive by Alvarez I'm afraid.

At 40 he's still very good. Amazing, He's and old man ( 40 ) fighting younger men.

Last post says it best. Amazing performance by a forty year old against an extremely tough and ready Murata. Biggest fight of his life for the Olympian at home. He gave it his all. Canelo is incredible but it seems forgotten how GGG handled him especially in their first fight. I am a huge Canelo fan but I had him losing one and drawing one at best. Always gonna be a tough fight. That is why team Canelo have left this one alone till four years later.

My thoughts exactly. With the PEDS and bised judge he drew with GGG. It was a loss.Boxingguru75 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 11:21 Last post says it best. it's the legs. like always. for every fighter. they start to give in first, if only a bit but you feel it instantly when it happens.
you don't throw your punches any different than in your prime just the supportive system underneath isn't 100% like it was in your prime.
you may be as fit as ever, train & rest better than ever but that youthful spring in your frikkin legs just isn't there anymore.

Golovkin started quite slowly, age is definitely showing up. Murata is a tough fighter, but still the gap in class was seen clearly even with aged Golovkin. Murata took good shots, until he got ultimately caught. He simply was too predictable, that's why he was taking more and more punishment and got crushed in the end.
This version of Golovkin won't bring any intrigue against Canelo. The 3rd match has no sense. The Redhead must stay at LHW.

Its true but G will probably get a big payday vs Canelo III. I think 31 Canelo would stop 40 GGG in the 3rd fight.DrDuke wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 14:51 Golovkin started quite slowly, age is definitely showing up. But lets not overlook Bivol. I think Bivol has the chance to give Canelo a tough fight. Indeed Bivol would need a T/KO get the win vs Canelo.

Are you F’ng people that dense or just such GGG haters (EO) that you can’t have some integrity for once and give this HOF Boxer his just so due???
This guy is 40 years old, he agrees to travel to F’ng Japan and fight an undefeated world class MW and defend his title at 7:30 in the morning his usual time Never mind that pressure, but he also must win impressively enough to maintain fan interest in the trilogy. I think that he did much better than that this morning.
I don’t mean to sound racist and these days you never know how some comments might be interpreted but my opinion is that the Japanese boxers are so damn tough to stop. They just keep coming and coming. But GGG damaged this guy so badly that not only did the boxer’s body and will give out, he got the white towel. No. It couldn’t have gone any better.

GGG playing it safe since Derevyanchenko fight. Waiting for that Canelo paycheck, just like others. It is not pretty, but its truth. And i am big fan of GGG.caldo2025 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 15:45 Are you F’ng people that dense or just such GGG haters (EO) that you can’t have some integrity for once and give this HOF Boxer his just so due???

Still think he will go full 12 with Canelo with some 117-111 loss and retire as a rich man. He is past his prime and will not let other prime guys to build their resume on his name.
Also, overlooking Bivol is not wise.

I agree with what you saying. Not easy to give the man his due is it.caldo2025 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 15:45 Are you F’ng people that dense or just such GGG haters (EO) that you can’t have some integrity for once and give this HOF Boxer his just so due???

Considering how he looked at the beginning, he did ok and got the stoppage.
Also, Murata is not undefeated, and the fight wasn’t 7am, it was prime time local around the usually 10pm or so.

I’ll guarantee that Canelo walks through Bivol methodically to the point where he may get a couple sympathy rounds from the judges. If he’s not knocked out, it will end up being one of those fights where no one will be nervous awaiting the reading of the scores. Guaranteed. Bivol just doesn’t do one thing even close to as well as Canelo. Not a single thing.Cent0089 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 15:57GGG playing it safe since Derevyanchenko fight. Just a ridiculous review of a spectacular performance. Not surprised who typed it. GGG notoriously starts slow and gives up exchanges early on in fights forever. GGG didn’t have hardly a mark in his face and came off a 14 month layoff to knock out a guy most incorrectly thought would give GGG a tough time. He didn’t. Winning one round or two before knocking out someone who’s never been knocked out before in no ways should be described as “tough challenge” you dope.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 08:37 Murata is a limited fighter GGG had to endure a much tougher challenge than I anticipated.
Canelo stops GGG in September.
It’s already a foregone conclusion to me.
The DAZN commentators are annoying me by repeatedly claiming we’ve just witnessed “the GGG of old”.
Well they’re wrong, because we actually witnessed “an old GGG”.

Re: Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Ryota Murata | DAZN - April 9, 2022
Golovkin did look old first 5 rounds and I did worry for him as a fan but as limited as Murata is that's a great win at 40 year old, he never just ground out a controversial win, he took punishment then broke a world champion down with a big finish, still you've got to strongly fancy Canelo to finally defeat him definitively this time, surely by KO?
As for anyone slating this match up, I agree that Golovkin lost some respect by choosing to sit on sidelines for this fight instead of taking Andrade unification beforehand but it's a unification nonetheless and in this shitty world of multiple belts and pretenders, it means something
Still can't wait for Jermall/Sulecki
