Re: Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano | DAZN - April 30, 2022
Anyone seen the absolute shambles of an undisputed on this undercard? 168lb womens for all the belts....
A girl who i 7-1 , won the belts mid 2019, lost them, decision got reversed by commision, then fought heavyweight (168+ in womes) for a tune up...
Vs
a girl thats 8-0 vs noone, and hasnt had a fight in over 2 year....
Surly savana vs sheilds winner is looking fowards to beating one of these two next and having 8 belts...

Press Release | Galal Yafai Added To Taylor-Serrano Card in New York City
Galal Yafai will make his American debut in the pro ranks as he defends his WBC International Flyweight Title against Miguel Cartagena on the undercard of the historic clash between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden in New York, live worldwide on DAZN.
Yafai (1-0 1 KO) made his hotly-anticipated pro bow in February at The O2 in London, and showed why there was such a scramble to sign the 2020 Olympic Gold medal winner by stopping Carlos Bautista inside five rounds to land the crown he puts on the line in the Big Apple.
The 29 year old is the youngest of the three talented Yafai brothers from Birmingham, England, and follows former World ruler Kal in stepping through the ropes Stateside, but could face a hostile crowd when doing so against Cartagena (17-6-1 8 KOs), the Puerto Rican from Philadelphia who will be hoping the Puerto Rican fans there to roar on Serrano in the main event will back him to derail Yafai’s journey early.
“I’m hugely excited for my second professional fight on the historic Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano Undisputed Lightweight World Title show at the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York on April 30,” said Yafai. “Big thanks to Eddie Hearn and Matchroom for getting me out so soon after my debut win in London earlier this year.
“Boxing at such an iconic venue in just my second fight is a massive box ticked for me and I’m looking to impress in front of an American audience and all around the world on DAZN. Miguel Cartagena is another opponent that will be coming to win on home soil, but I’ll be keeping hold of my belt with a stylish win and to show people how good I am.”
“This is a huge opportunity for me and one I’ve been waiting for,” said Cartagena. “I know they think this is a showcase for him, but they are in for a rude awakening. I wanted this fight. I’ve been asking for it.
“I know the Puerto Rican fans will be there supporting me and I don’t plan on disappointing them. They made a mistake and come April 30 they are going to find out.”
"This is a great opportunity for Galal to show the world what we all think - that he's a very, very special fighter," said promoter Eddie Hearn. "These are the spotlights and platforms that rising talents thrive on, and i expect Galal to do just that - but with the Puerto Rican fans on his side, Miguel is going to give everything he's got to spoil Galal's night. It's another great addition to what promises to be an unforgettable night in New York."
Yafai’s clash with Cartagena is part of a huge night of action in New York, topped by Taylor and Serrano becoming the first female fighters to headline the iconic venue.
Jessie Vargas and Liam Smith meet in a must-win battle at Super-Welterweight and there’s more undisputed action on the card as Franchón Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos decide who is the top dog at Super-Middleweight.
Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams is in a tough test with fellow unbeaten Middleweight Chordale Booker, Reshat Mati is always popular in his home city and the ‘Albanian Bear’ meets Joe Eli Hernandez over eight rounds, and Light-Heavyweight talent Khalil Coe makes the short trip from Jersey City to face William Langston over six.

Skye Nicolson Added To Taylor-Serrano Card; First Australian Female Ever To Fight At MSG
Skye Nicolson is making good on her promise to remain active straight out the gate.
Her next ring appearance will add to an already historic night at Madison Square Garden.
The 2020 Olympic quarterfinalist for Australia is confirmed to next fight on the undercard of the April 30 DAZN show headlined by undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor (20-0, 6 KOs) and seven-division titlist Amanda Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KOs). Nicolson (2-0, 0 KOs) will face Shanecqua Paisley Davis (3-1, 0 KOs) in a scheduled six-round featherweight contest in the final announced bout of the upcoming show.
Nicolson’s appearance serves as a watershed moment for her country, as she becomes the first Australian female to ever fight at MSG. The moment fittingly comes on a night when Taylor-Serrano serves as the first female fight to headline at the famed venue.
“It’s an honor for me to not only fight on this historic card but also to become one of the few Australians to fight at the Mecca of boxing Madison Square Garden and the first female,” Nicolson said of the fight, which was announced Friday afternoon. “This is a game changing moment for Women’s boxing and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to feature on this show.”
Davis has fought exclusively in her home state of Texas during her three-year pro career. The 31-year-old from Houston rebounded from her lone defeat with a four-round decision in her most recent fight last October in Sugar Land, Texas. All four pro fights have gone the distance for Davis to date, with Nicolson also going all six rounds in each of her two pro fights.
The latest assignment comes just two weeks after Nicolson’s most recent ring appearance, a six-round shutout of Bec Connolly on March 26 in Leeds, England. That fight took place three weeks following a successful pro debut for Nicolson, who outpointed unbeaten Jessica Juarez over six rounds in her opponent’s hometown of San Diego.
Nicolson’s pro debut this past March came more than seven months after her final amateur bout, a heartbreaking loss to eventual Olympic Silver medalist Karriss Artingstall in their Olympic featherweight quarterfinal last July 31 in Tokyo.
She set out an early career goal lo go at least 6-0 in 2022, and ending the year as an emerging featherweight contender.
“I am loving every moment of this journey,” Nicolson told Boxing Scene. “I am looking for a very active 2022 to put myself in a position to fight for the featherweight world title in early 2023.”
Her most recently announced bout already places the 27-year-old prospect halfway to that goal, less than two months into her pro career.
“For me personally it will be three fights in eight weeks on both sides of the Atlantic,” notes Nicolson. “I feel like I’m improving every day and the opportunities that Matchroom and DAZN are giving me are helping me grow on my journey to become World champion.
“See you in NYC!”
Nicolson-Davis is one of three female fights on the April 30 show, two of which come with the undisputed crown at stake. In addition to Taylor-Serrano comes the undisputed super middleweight championship between unified titlists Franchon Crews Dezurn (7-1, 2KOs; 1NC) and unbeaten Elin Cederroos (8-0, 4KOs). Baltimore’s Crews-Dezurn puts her WBC/WBO belts at stake versus Sweden’s Cederroos, who puts her WBA/IBF belts on the line in their scheduled 10-round bout.

Extra tickets on sale for Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano New York bout due to demand as it approaches a sell-out
Extra tickets have gone on sale for the Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano World championship showdown in New Year’s Madison Square Garden on April 30.
According to promoters Matchroom, the demand for tickets for the eagerly anticipated clash between the pair resulted in more going on sale overnight.
The main MSG arena has a capacity of just over 20,000 for a boxing show and it is anticipated that the fight will be close to a sell-out.
It is estimated that more than 4,500 fans are travelling from Ireland and the UK for the historic showdown between the undisputed and undefeated lightweight world champion Katie Taylor and Serrano, who has won world titles in seven different weight divisions.
The fight will be shown live worldwide on the DAZN streaming network and is the first female fight to headline at the iconic MSG in its 140-year history.
Disappointingly, there are no other Irish fighters on the show, the full details of which were announced overnight.
England’s Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Galal Yafai makes his American debut, while Australia’s Skye Nicolson fights for the second time as a professional against Shanecqua Paisley Davis over six rounds in the second female bout on the card.
Meanwhile, Taylor continues to prepare for what is likely to be the biggest test of her career at her training base in Connecticut.
Irish boxers Amy Broadhurst and Limerick’s Myles Casey have both travelled there in recent weeks to spar against Taylor.
“She has trained harder for this fight than any of her previous fights,” according to a source in her camp.

Is Katie taylor the most overrated boxer of all time? People have her in the womens goat conversation, but why?
mckaskill win is nice... but thats it really in my opinion. Has competed in 1 division, not even looking at moving up or down
She shouldent even be a world champ right now, she got beat by police women persoon. twice? or at best beat once drawn once. and now she is 50-50 against someone who is competing 2 (mabey 3) weight classes above her best weight. (i still think serrano will win).

Re: Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano | DAZN - April 30, 2022
Ah shit true... Although the person she beat was a 130lb champ before 140... and weighed in over 2 lbs light when she won the 140 belt. 1.5 lb light vs katie, and over 2 lb light her next fight... so yea i guess i gotta count it cause its not rare for stuff like that in womens, but she beat someone for the 140 belt who either consistently likes cutting 2 lbs too much, or cuts zero weight and is still weighing in light for the division.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 03:55She’s a 2-weight world champion. I mean i know katy could of poached belts probably up to 154lb... natasha jonas went from 130 to 154.... in 2 years, thats how thin belts are in womens, i dont want her moving divs for meaningless fights, but i just think theres fights she should of been willing to move for.
Chantell cameron, Terry harper, Estelle Yoka Mossely.... they would all be as good as anyone i think katie has actualy beat other than mcaskill who was on her 5th fight, who by the way i wouldent mind seeing a rematch with(i dont think she beat persoon).
Moot point i guess, I dont think Katie fights anyone other than Serrano again (if this is close or does good numbers they might rematch/trillogy, otherwise Katie will retire)...

Then your opinion is massively prejudiced against her. Katie has locked out the Lightweight division and has done so for nearly three years now... You really have to give the girl some credit, she is a top, top fighter and one of the best women Pound-For-Pounders in the world...
She is a former Light Welterweight Champion as well, at least get your facts right...gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 01:58Has competed in 1 division, not even looking at moving up or down

Well it's hardly Katie's fault that Amanda is lighter than her. Katie should be praised for even taking this fight, Serrano is also one of the bets Pound-For-Pounders and is a dangerous fight for any woman...gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 01:58and now she is 50-50 against someone who is competing 2 (mabey 3) weight classes above her best weight. In terms of being the all time number one, I look at the earlier women fighters who put the marker down - Christy Martin, Anne Wolfe, Laila Ali...

I also adressed i missed the 140lb title, although hardly a 140 fighter she beat..
It is my opinion on persoon. Although i think most people agree with me that she lost the first, and didnt win the 2nd.
if your high levle you should always beat someone 2/3 divs bellow you. the fact its even money means people belive serano is clearly a way better p4p fighter when gambling...but somehow katie has maintained hype in discussion.
Re: Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano | DAZN - April 30, 2022
Well you are changing your tune here. If you believe that Serrano is better that is fair enough but let's have less of the "overrated" talk. Katie has achieved what very few boxers have ever achieved - how many 4-belt Undisputed Champions have we had over the past 20 years? Maybe a handful?gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 21:59I dont think shes not good. just think serrano is better but with farrr less hype (untill she tied up with jake paul).
Your tone gives you away here - very grudgingly accepting that she was indeed a World Champion at Light Welter. As I understand it, Katie defeated the reigning World Champion, who regained her title after Katie moved back down... So she couldn't have been that bad.gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 21:59 I also adressed i missed the 140lb title, although hardly a 140 fighter she beat..
And it's actually pretty funny that you would comment on the opponent - considering you didn't even know that she fought at the weight a short while ago and now you feel comfortable enough to make more criticisms against her
At the risk of repeating myself, you are entitled to your opinion,, but don't try to claim the opinion of others as validating your own. Bottom line - Persoon had 2 cracks at the Champ - and couldn't get the job done.gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 21:59It is my opinion on persoon. Although i think most people agree with me that she lost the first, and didnt win the 2nd.
If that were the case, then how could we possibly have 3 weight, 4 weight and 5 weight World Champions?gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 21:59if your high levle you should always beat someone 2/3 divs bellow you.
You can't make broad-stroke generalisations like that. The pairing of every fight is different and should be examined as it's own fight. Weight certainly does come in to it, but it's not the be all and end all that you make it out to be. Fighters are different at weight classes - was the Middleweight version of Roberto Duran as great or as destructive as the Lightweight version of him, of course not... Hence- we take each fight on its own basis....
Serrano is brilliant, is anybody possibly disputing that? She is a modern day Great in Women's Boxing and she would be a tough fight for any female fighter in the world... She's really a class act, but does that mean that Katie is sh1t? Of course not.gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 21:59the fact its even money means people belive serano is clearly a way better p4p fighter when gambling...
OR - people (unlike you) actually give the woman the credit that she deserves as an Undisputed, undefeated Pound For Pound listed Champion....

To be honest, I am hoping for a rematch later this year between them, maybe at the MGM Grand in Vegas - this fight is a big money-spinner for both girls and I'd like to see them have a second outing, regardless of the result the first time round.

Didnt change my tune, i think shes grossly overated. dosent mean i think shes bad.Crease wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 07:23Well you are changing your tune here.
And it's actually pretty funny that you would comment on the opponent - considering you didn't even know that she fought at the weight a short while ago and now you feel comfortable enough to make more criticisms against her![]()
At the risk of repeating myself, you are entitled to your opinion,, but don't try to claim the opinion of others as validating your own.

The 140 world champ was technicaly a 140 champ but geezes christ its weak.
why cant i tie my opinion in with the majority? do you act like home A-side decisions dont exist? she didnt get it done because judges follow money, but persoon out preformed katie by every reasonable metric.
undisputed means far less in womens.... infact there is an undisputed fight on the taylor undercard that zero people have even heard of.
Moving though the weights is how you have multi weight world champs, 90% grow into weights or are weight drained as shit befor the move up. . how many people go from 126 champ (weighing in 124... ) fighting for 135 belt with 1 nothing tune up?.... Serrano can currently make fly weight probably. she is litraly fighting 5 classes above the weight she can make... mens or womens thats rare as fornicate... Inoue aint fighting loma.... Loma aint fighting canelo... Spence aint fighting Fury..... Thats what amanda is doing.
Re: Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano | DAZN - April 30, 2022
And you are using Serrano as a measure, because you keep comparing Katie to her. In actual fact, Katie's record is probably one of the few in modern day boxing that can actually be compared to Amanda's.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 07:35Didnt change my tune, i think shes grossly overated. dosent mean i think shes bad.
Mate, you didn't even know she was a 2-weight Champion until a few days ago, so give it a rest...gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 07:35The 140 world champ was technicaly a 140 champ but geezes christ its weak.
Because you are making an assumption that the majority agree with you... Most people agree that Katie did better in the rematch and though if was a mixed bag - a lot more had her winning. Either way we can do back and forth, the results stands and you don't seem to be dealing with it in a healthy way with all of your b1tching and moaning...
The definition of undisputed means holding all four World Championships of a weight division at the same time. You really don't want to give the girl any credit do you?
You keep talking about Katie being a massive hype job - but I would argue that you are going completely over the top in your judgment and criticism of her, when there's no real need to. You think Serrano will win? That's fine, we shall see soon enough. I hope Katie wins and I believe that she can do it, she has the skill to gain a points victory... But unlike you, I don't dismiss Amanda and label her a hype job or try to attack her for her past victories... Amanda is a brilliant fighter, it's a very tough fight for Katie - BUT - it is also a tought fight for Amanda... And any objective boxing enthusiast would say the same.
