They know better than you Alp, no matter what you thinkAmbling Alp II wrote: ↑19 Apr 2022, 11:21I think you can get an idea by seeing it. Obviously a punch can look better (or worse) depending on the chin of the opponent. Sometimes what looks like a big punch isn't because it didn't land as cleanly as you might think.
However, there are certainly times where you can tell a guy landed a big shot.
I do like the comments of guys saying who hit them the hardest. Assuming that the guy fought other big punchers, it is informative.
We do have to keep in mind that a guy could have fought a big puncher but never got hit on the button by that guy, so that guy doesn't get mentioned. And these are human beings who might not like another guy who indeed had a big punch.

Re: What HW hit you the hardest?
I was just saying that you have to consider some things:
-Did they actually get nailed by the guy they don't consider to be a big puncher?
-Are they being honest?
Something else to consider that occasionally they might get nailed with a great shot by someone who normally wasn't that big of a puncher.
For example, Maurice Hope might consider Wilfred Benitez to be a big puncher or Lennox Lewis might consider Hasim Rahman to be one.
But again, obviously it's worth listening to these guys.

I think they should also start asking these guys,
Who was it that YOU (believe) you had hit the hardest ?
especially if they were surprised that they did not go down.

George Chaplin fought a lot of big punchers, including Earnie Shavers.

Earnie Shavers used to use a 12 lb axe to chop wood.
That is where he claimed he got most of his punching power from.

Shavers hit Howard Smith with a punch so hard that it chipped a bone in Smith's neck
and he had to retire from boxing shortly afterwards.
