'Mack the Knife' was a Bobby Darin song from 1960 or so. That's where the nickname came from, wasn't it? I was around him a bit when he turned over and as far as I was aware it was made up then.

Agree with your general point about journalism. :TU:

MGM was a similar logo wasn’t it. Stood got Macklin’s Gym Marbella.

Used to see MGM more than MTK at the start.

Yes. Until MGM took them to court in Scotland and they rebranded to MTK.

Really? Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer took them to court?

I had no idea.

Must have not been as invested back then.

Logic suggests he’s got to be involved in the money laundering side of things. Gardai recently raided property owned by Kinahan in Ireland & who was living it? Matt Macklin. So he’s definitely still involved with Kinahan.

I had hoped he’d been scared off by what happened to Jamie Moore & Jamie Kavanagh’s dad & uncle been shot out in Marbella but I think he’s just been clever enough to stay out of the limelight & not mention Kinahan’s name or have any pictures with him unlike some of the idiots like Jones & Davison who couldn’t wait to tell everyone about their relationship with him.

Wtf? Surely Macklin’s earned enough to be living in his own property by now!

When MGM first started it was a gym bank-rolled for Matt and Seamus by Daniel. It grew legs and became what it was. IF Daniel had nefarious objectives at any point why would he use somebody dirty as his front man? There has never been any suggestion by anybody that Matt is dodgy.

And now smarmy guys like Hearn born with a silver spoon gain more control over fighters. Say what you want about MTK, they treated fighters like Kings.

Whats Hearn's upbringing got to do with anything? Matchroom treat their fighters better than anyone, I agree though MTK did treat their guys well and boxing as a sport in this country and Ireland is a poorer place without them

So short sighted, it's exactly because of them, that pro boxing in Ireland has stalled
