Smart move by Fury.

It's his best chance, even if he intends to bore us to sleep once more.

Whyte might need all of his MMA savy in addition to his considerable boxing skills tomorrow night.

Damn, that explains why I haven't seen any of my local pubs advertising showing the fight. I went around yesterday on my bike in the morning to check all the country pubs within an hour of my place and not one had mention on the boards outside.
10pm Saturday night UK=10am Sunday NZ
Never mind. There will always be talksport and youtube later if it turns put to be epic.

The expression is trite but true in this case. Whyte can't beat Fury, Fury can beat Fury.

Where's Whyte picked up all this savvy boxing ability all of a sudden that people seem to be talking of?
I've honestly never seen it. He's something of a come forward slugger without the KO% of a notable puncher.
There is of course the proverbial "punchers chance" and anything can happen in the heavyweight division. But Wilder couldn't keep Fury down, I don't think Whyte can either.

Whyte has indeed earned his shot. But I don't think this is a close fight, and it's a less engaging fight than Whyte vs Wilder would be for instance, or Fury vs AJ or Usyk. Maybe those fights come further down the line, and hopefully this one is more engaging and interesting than I'm giving it chance to be.

Pundits and pros make their predictions for all-British heavyweight world title fight

Former two-weight world champion David Haye: "I think Dillian stops Tyson Fury on his feet late doors at some stage. If that happens, you would have to go for a rematch. Possibly even a trilogy with those two."

Trainer Dave Coldwell: "I hope it isn't a fight where Tyson is cagey and negative. As a fan I want to see them go at it. I'd like a more positive Fury to come out there to really try and put it on Dillian.

"It's an exciting match-up. For me, there's no clear favourite. Would I say Dillian is an underdog, yes I would, but I would say he's a live dog."

Britain's WBO super-welterweight champion Natasha Jonas: "I'm going for a Tyson Fury win. I've bet against him before and got it wrong so never again.

"How he wins depends on which Tyson turns up on the night."

Fury's coach SugarHill Steward: "I predict pain. Dillian is not a special talent of a fighter, but he's consistent with pressure and comes with a lot of power. You always have to watch out for Dillian."

British welterweight Conor Benn: "I wouldn't be surprised if Dillian Whyte [wins]. The [Deontay] Wilder fights have had a toll on Fury - he's been inactive for quite a while, so has Whyte. Whyte has got that dogfight in him, but so has Fury. I think Whyte is the bigger puncher of the two. I wouldn't be surprised if Whyte [wins], but I lean more towards Fury."

New Zealand's former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, who lost to Whyte in 2018: "Tyson is going to win by knockout between rounds five and nine. The undisputed fight will be after that and maybe Dillian can fight me. I want to right that wrong."

Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin, who lost to Fury on points in 2019: "It's going to be a tough night for Dillian. He's the shorter guy, the smaller guy. He has power but he will need faster feet and faster hands to get close to Fury.

"He needs to make sure he doesn't let Fury bully him around. But I think Fury will dictate how this fight will play out. He will try and outbox him and then maybe go for a late stoppage, but I predict he will win on points."

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis: "I think Dillian Whyte is going to find it difficult boxing a tall guy like Tyson Fury. And even catching him."

I don’t think you’ve been watching Dillian Whyte’s bouts.

For sure, he hasn’t got Fury-esque nor Usyk-esque skills, but he’s fundamentally sound, defensively responsible and also throws a decent array of shots.

Whyte can box on the back or front foot.

His jab and his body shots are excellent.

Simply put: Dillian Whyte isn’t a reckless slugger.

There’s a possibility that Fury may make Whyte’s skills appear to be primitive in nature, but Tyson is capable of making most world-rated heavyweights look that way.

Fury is too big, he is a giant with a normal persons nimbleness , whyte will not be able to deal with the size difference, that’s his biggest problem.

In boxing that isn't always the case.some fighters absorb huge shots from one fighter but get stopped by another lesser puncher, usually because the punches come from different angles.

ya

to take wilder again for example, wilder couldnt drop duhaupas at all with 11 rounds of flush loaded power shots. duhaupas showed way more toughness there than fury did

but some random journeyman dropped duhaupas and pov ktfo him

If you take just one fight, Foreman couldn't KO a Levi Forte and everyone else did. Shavers, another power puncher, was occasionally stretched by a non contender.

ya, you cant just look at it as 'well he wasnt ko'd by this huge puncher, so lesser punchers surely cant ko him either'

fury also got dropped by a light hitting cruiser, but stood up to shots from bigger hitting heavyweights. boxing is funny like that.

If fury had not gone down to those wilder shots, his chin would of got less credit than it did with him going down and getting up... which is weird.

lol true

the whole 'no one else would've gotten up from that 12th round shot'

meanwhile, both duhaupas and stiverne (1) went 11 and 12 rounds without ever going down, taking continual loaded up flush shots cleaner than anything fury was nailed with. how nasty a shot looks is based heavily on the fighters reaction to it, which is based largely on their own durability. better chins then fury simply wouldnt have gone down like they were dead

it's all about seeing the punch coming, bracing yourself and reacting with it.

a skilled thrown, flush landing heavyweught punch on the button you don't see coming and can't react to, means good night.

Chins are like socks, they wear out after time. Note, Duhapas got stopped after the Wilder fight and not before, and each KO took lesser time. Likewise, Wilder softened Stiverne up for the KO 1.

I have, and I don't think he's quite such the pure boxer you make him out to be.

This is the one....never mind the fact that just because Wilder could't stop Fury, therefore Whyte won't (which others are alluding to)....I just believe Whyte won't be capable of putting enough of one, two, three on him.

Wilder, as we know managed to find those bombs to end fights 39 times out of 40 before the first Fury fight....and he found 4 big shots on Fury in their 3 fights! Even though he is supposed to be a limited boxer, and purely a slugger.
Rewatch the early rounds of their first bout. Wilder can actually box a bit and put some shots together at times, if awkwardly in style.

Whyte has nowhere near that kind of KO %, and while Fury can be caught, he's never been down and out. I don't think Whyte's boxing ability is anywhere near enough to be able to outsmart Fury to be able to land the 2,3,4 shots I think it would require from Dillian to put Fury down in a precarious position.

Of course it COULD happen that Fury lapses in concentration momentarily, timed perfectly for one of Dillian's overhand power shots and it wipes Fury out. But I give that less chance of happening than the shot that Fury was put down and rose from in round 12 of the first Wilder fight.

The Adeleye-Healey bout is an atrocious mismatch!!!

FFS! Chris Healey makes Andy Ruiz Jr. look like an Adonis! :o

I think even I could have a decent chance of beating Healey!!!

Has there ever been such a more terrible undercard, being covered by the worldwide media, staged in a fantastic venue in front of a gigantic audience, funded via PPV fees, than what we’re currently witnessing for Fury-Whyte?
