He beat Francisco "Panchito" Bojado 9-8 in the finals of the 57 kg division in the 2000 Central American and Caribbean Championship.

Valero was only 18 years in 2000. He lost in the Olympic Qualifiers in Tijuana to Israel Perez (there are chances his first defence will be against Perez) and in Buenos Aires a close decision to Valdemir Pereira. He went on to win the Central American/Carribean Championships beating 9-8 Panchito Bojado (controversial decision according to newspaper accounts). He was a hard puncher but lacked experience, the Olympics came a year or two too early for him I guess.

In his own words -- "Soy estilista y también pego duro. En amateur gané 86 peleas y propiné 45 nocauts"
I am a stylist but I also hit hard. As an amateur I won 86 fights and scored 45 kayos.

From what i've heard, he hits very very hard and he is physicaly strong but is a brawler and has no style.

Somebody should have it. I don't have that one but I do have Valeros close loss to Valdmeir Pereira at the 2000 Olympic Qualifiers.
