It used to be said that Danny Williams would have a serious struggle with nerves and confidence issues before pretty much every fight, sometimes vomiting back in the locker rooms.
I think Ian Darke said the least nervous he ever seen him before a fight was Tyson believe it or not, he even flashed Ian a smile before the staredown
It got me thinking years later now that Williams is still being wheeled out to be knocked out, do you think he still feels all those nerves before a "fight" especially since the result is now an inevitable knockout loss, when before he was actually favourite in many of his fights his nerves were said to be bad enough
Or do you tragically think that he has taken so many shots to the head he's just used to it all by now

There is a lot less to be nervous about when you are not expected to win.

I understand the pressure of being the favourite and expected to perform, especially since Williams was a hot prospect when he started, but surely most pre fight nerves at any level are just from the natural thought that you're soon going to be in a fistfight with a trained athlete and you can be badly hurt
Seeing how that's all that happens to Williams now, I just wondered what goes through his head pre fight now, if he was nervous about fights he was expected to win, how nervous is he when he knows he's going to be hurt again, depending on what state his brain is in of course, the man really should not be in the ring any more as we all know

On the flip-side I've heard a few people say David Haye was the most relaxed and calm fighter they've ever seen before a fight.

Pre-fight nerves is a big thing. I think that’s why you tend to hear fighters saying they have a kip shortly before they fight.
