some ppl do think he lost to jennings but he obviously didnt, he clearly won albeit not that impressively and he did get hurt to the body at the start
though for his 9th fight or whatever it was it was a solid enough result

I don’t really rewatch full fights after they’ve aired.. especially if I watched it live.Cyclops wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:07Why don't you watch it and then you can give your opinion?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:03 Don’t some people think he lost to Jennings? Or it was close?
But I remember my stream being crap that night so I didn’t score it.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
It's very much how Thatcher described: Joyce got touched to the body early and it seemed to hurt him. Thereafter he was a little more cautious than his normal chin first approach and got a clear, if hard fought, decision over Jennings who said afterwards he didn't think Joyce was anything special, or words to that effect.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:55I don’t really rewatch full fights after they’ve aired.. especially if I watched it live.Cyclops wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:07Why don't you watch it and then you can give your opinion?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:03 Don’t some people think he lost to Jennings? It was chief headliner for Daniel Dubois' coming out party, his stoppage of Nathan Gorman. That made Dubois look a million dollars, and rightfully overshadowed Joyce's disappointing performance. But those in the know knew that Joyce had had the significantly harder assignment in Jennings, who was a useful gatekeeper type that only ever lost to very good fighters like Wlad, a prime Ortiz (he was, and still is, Ortiz's best win)and was experienced enough to provide a very good learning fight. It's not really worth watching again if you watched it already. It was scored wide for Joyce by two judges but from what I recall the 112-115 scorecard was the most representative and the 'controversy' was over the other cards being too wide.
It's actually a pretty solid win.

Also the Takam fight wasn’t that good a performance apart from the ending that he stopped him.

It sounds much more exciting than I remembered! Maybe I'll watch it again after all!Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Jul 2019, 17:59 THE WBA GOLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
12 X 3 Minute Rounds
Joe Joyce MBE W pts 118-109 1176-110 115-112 Bryant Jennings
Joyce employed his customary tactic of attempting to submerge his opponent with a whirlwind of shots, which he did, but danger signals were there early from the American, who appeared to hurt the Englishman to the body and also upstairs towards the end of the first round. Both were trading in hurt during the second and both appeared to have a very high pain threshold when it comes to shots that rock the head. Joyce was certainly the busier in the third before a frantic ending to the round that saw bombs flying to and fro. The incredible exchanges flowed in the fourth, with clean punches finding a way through on a regular basis. It was a wonder how this pair managed to stay upright. The fifth, inevitably, slowed up a little, before the next two saw Joyce stay on the front foot. Jennings started to rally in the eighth, landing a number of clubbing blows. The next three minutes was closely fought and hard to call as blows were dispatched and returned to sender. Brutality from Jennings seemed to draw out the beast in Joyce when apparently hurt. Jennings was deducted a point for a low blow in the tenth and Joyce seemed to find yet another wind for the final round of a fight he will take so much from.

Full round by round thread of the night. A couple of the lads here thought Jennings should've got it. I don't remember the point deduction.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
I don't remember the deduction either. From memory I remember Joyce being hurt from the body shot early and generally for the rest of the fight not throwing and landing as much as Jennings who looked a lot faster and more active. As I'm not insane I've not watched it back and it was a forgettable fight so I may be misremembering. The wide scorecards were plain wrong.Cyclops wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 20:26viewtopic.php?f=9&t=232022&hilit=Dubois+gorman+roundjoshj909 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 18:49I'm pretty sure I had Jennings winningRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:03 Don’t some people think he lost to Jennings? Jennings got a point knocked off in round 10 or 11 for a low blow.

Whyte down to #8, he showed absouley nothing, and wasn't in shape. A china chin,joshj909 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2022, 08:14 Controversially:
- Fury down to #2 based on Usyk having a better recent win than Fury.
- Whyte up to #4 based on Whyte having a better record than Wilder despite the loss.
A few noteworthy HW fights scheduled or in discussion:
Parker/Joyce
Ruiz/Ortiz
Yoka/Bakole
Zhang/Hrgovic
Pulev/Forrest
Bryan/Dubois
There's also a slight possibility of Rivas Vs Babic/Rozanski at Bridgerweight but not yet in the works.
Fury down to #2, Usyk win was more impressive,
As soon as Hrgovic beats Zhang I vote him in the top ten.

The only think I have about this is, Since Usyk beat AJ, Fahd fought twice and beaten Wilder and Whyte, both by KO.
I reckon waiting for the Usyk-AJ rematch. If Usyk wins, I reckon he has a good shout at the #1 spot. But only then.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
Found the RBR's average card. It was 6-2 to Joyce in terms of clear rounds. (5-2 if the point deduction is excluded) With 4 swing rounds.Cyclops wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 20:26viewtopic.php?f=9&t=232022&hilit=Dubois+gorman+roundjoshj909 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 18:49I'm pretty sure I had Jennings winningRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:03 Don’t some people think he lost to Jennings? Competitive but clear. Which was kind of how I remember the fight being, with Jennings not there to lay down, much like you described

I'm sure we can all be happy with the changes?
Most voted he remain but there was a majority who wanted him to drop.
With Ruiz, Joyce, Ortiz, Pulev, Hrgovic, Yoka fighting in the next coming months hopefully before Summer and given Whyte doesn't fight until the end of the year, there is room for much more improvement.

I voted for him to stay and then he would move down when the next months fights take place, but I'm ok with 6th. Still have doubts on Parker though at 5th though, but I'm fine with Whyte at 6th. He'll go lower for sure.

Zhang has done well to get to where he is, but really - he is going to get slaughtered. And I think your right Oogs, it might be hard to watch.
But Hrgovic is a top prospect, this is his momentum fight. And he really does lack momentum
