Next move for Dillian Whyte?
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
I promise you that before long the titles will be fragmented again and there will be a decent chance that Charles Martin will be one of the opponents
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
I would think that the following would roughly be the top guys chosen to go for each of the vacant belts:
- WBC: Wilder, Joyce, Ruiz, Sanchez
- WBO: Joyce, Parker, Sanchez, Dubois
- IBF: Hrgovic/Zhang, Yoka, Kabayel
- WBA: Dubois/Bryan, Hunter, Helenius, Hughie

whyte was starting to come on, the push saved fury
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
I think Whyte is in a very healthy position in the Heavyweight rankings, there's no shame losing to the number one.
If AJ loses to Usyk (as i expect him to) - then AJ vs Whyte II would make a lot of financial sense and would probably be another big stadium sell out.
Failing that, i would hit the US. Dillian would crush the Americans, i suspect that only Wilder or Ruiz would give him a serious fight...

Whyte guaranteed a world title? He's unsellable after that flop. Do you see Usyk or Joshua winner picking him of all people as a challenger?Coco wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 06:32Pretty much would be guaranteed more world title fights, half a chance of winning one and def would be paid millions.Billy Tully wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 05:43 What's the point in continuing? He's 35 and can't stop or take an uppercut. Everyone's going to be throwing that shot at him. Has a worse fighter ever engaged in a string of PPVs? Just quit while your heads still attached to your shoulders!
On your logic they all should retire as they are below Fury's level
All he's guaranteed is another head-cracking highlight reel KO.

Absolutely, opponents aren't there to win, they are there for the champ to look good against.Billy Tully wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 08:20Whyte guaranteed a world title? He's unsellable after that flop. Boxing is a business, they won't be looking to fight the best guys unless it's a money spinner, and even then!
Promoters look for the easiest fights against fighters in the top 15.
Is Whyte any worse than the vast majority of challengers in the last 5 years??
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
Well considering he's a multi millionaire and could'nt even be bothered to get in shape for a crack at the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD i'd say he should pack it in , I mean look at the condition of him he was gassing after 4 rnds and they were not hard rnds ,,, Only possible excuse is the trainers he had told him to come in really heavy slow and sluggish , to try maul Tyson ,
In which case, if thats the case he should still retire because he's too dumb to box ,, totally sick of these big overweight unfit heavyweights commanding PPV and millions to put on a performance no better than you see out of ameteur heavyweights on saturday night ameteur shows

Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
But the opponent has to be sold as credible, and after Whytes dismal last showing he would need a good win to rebound from .. and at this stage of his fight career it's not easy to see him winning against another top 10 heavy; despite getting the win later over Povetkin .. Whyte is now best remembered for twice recently being starched by highlight reel uppercuts.Coco wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 08:28Absolutely, opponents aren't there to win, they are there for the champ to look good against.Billy Tully wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 08:20Whyte guaranteed a world title? Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
it could be AJ after he loses to Usyk, still be a decent PPV fight.
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
I'd be happy to see the above four bouts... Wonder if they could be made to make each man Mandatory for the selected belt?
Or a Super Eight tournament, that would be amazing!!!
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
WBSS might be able to have a HW season once Fury and AJ retire. They both demand too high of a fee at the moment and a tournament without them doesn't get enough attention.
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
Breazdale, Molina, Takram, Stiverne, Arreola plenty of opportunities around for aging fighters were weren't very competitive in their world title fights.tonyevs wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 01:51But the opponent has to be sold as credible, and after Whytes dismal last showing he would need a good win to rebound from .. and at this stage of his fight career it's not easy to see him winning against another top 10 heavy; despite getting the win later over Povetkin .. Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
Loads of fights out there for Whyte. He's going to have to take a big pay cut though.
I think he's damaged goods, three highlight reel knockouts against his name. He looked poor on Saturday and was blowing out of his arse.
He's done well out of the game, made a fortune. Does he want to go to war for a lot less money, seems every fight he has been in the last few years has been hard work (povetkin rematch aside)

Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
A loss to Fury wouldn't have put him back so far had he been fit and going for it. He could usurp Del as our star gatekeeper if he wants, but no-one believes he can climb the ladder a third time unless he starts turning up in the 230s.
Wlad's still the only one who took losing to Fury positively, wanting to rematch with renewed determination.

Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
He was very plodding. Looked like he’d probably trained without PEDs so not to risk the payday, bulked up on protein and came in very soft and ponderous. Lighter is probably better or just get some very good match making in.

Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
Would also like to see Wilder-Whyte....could be fun.
Think Parker deserves a rematch, he was close to finishing Whyte in the last round.
But as has been mentioned, the difficulty would be in Whyte's (and others) own perceptions of where they are in the grand scheme of things.
Whyte has seemingly become a "PPV" calibre fighter on the back of being knocked out by AJ. He will need to be realistic moving forward.

How about a new trainer?
Re: Next move for Dillian Whyte?
Fight Wallin after you fucked him over.
No interest in Del Boy III.
Arreola would be good but it won’t happen as there’s no angle for the casuals and he’d cost a fortune.
Ideally Andy Ruiz but he may be busy,
Wallin fir me.

I not sure any of those would take him to where he would want to go if he continues.Coco wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 06:14Breazdale, Molina, Takram, Stiverne, Arreola plenty of opportunities around for aging fighters were weren't very competitive in their world title fights.tonyevs wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 01:51But the opponent has to be sold as credible, and after Whytes dismal last showing he would need a good win to rebound from .. and at this stage of his fight career it's not easy to see him winning against another top 10 heavy; despite getting the win later over Povetkin .. Stay focused, train hard and he can achieve some succes in heavyweight. Fights against Luis Ortiz, Otto Wallin or rematch with Parker. Trying to expose Yoka or Joyce is also option. Probably need lower quality opontnt as a bounce back fight ?
