I vote let em dope.

Ruiz with abs, Ortiz swimming in the pharmaceutical fountain of youth .. bliss.

:yay: Let Them Dope! :yay:

The only testing should be a quick look at their 'nads at the weigh in, if they don't look like two raisins, then they get disqualified :salut:

Wasn't Martin supposed to be a credible opponent for Joshua a few years back?

josh destroyed martin 7 years ago, after being a pro for just 2 years, and never got any credit for the win because ppl thought martin was a joke. its barely a top 10 win for joshua anymore. do people go around saying 'man, i really rate joshua beating charles martin' ? no...

getting off the canvas twice to come from behind and beat martin in 2022.......well, it's still one of luis's best wins! arguably as high as #2. i give him credit for showing heart and he still has power

since he actually destroyed a young martin, rather than an older version, no need to find out :TU:

cant say im too interested in mythicals about aged dudes rematching out of their primes tbh, even at this stage of his career joshua has a lot bigger fights to consider than rematches with guys he annihilated after 2 years as a pro. leave that nonsense to the ortiz fans, fits much better with his career

Unstable Andy Ruiz va Oldman Luis Ortiz. Maybe not really a question worth answering.

Andy Ruiz-Luis Ortiz Heavyweight Clash To Now Take Place September 4

An attractive heavyweight matchup remains in play but now is on the move.

Boxing Scene has learned that the previously agreed-upon showdown between Andy Ruiz and Luis Ortiz will now take place September 4—a Sunday—as opposed to a previously targeted August 13 Fox Sports Pay-Per-View from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

A location was not specified for the now-rescheduled heavyweight clash. A hold was placed for August 13 at Crypto.com Arena, which is currently available on September 4.

The rare Sunday evening show stays in tradition with past PBC on Fox events, regularly hosting a card on the eve of Labor Day. It is believed that the fight will still headline a Fox Sports Pay-Per-View, with a lead-in telecast on Fox prime.

Ruiz himself revealed the new date while addressing what was billed as the biggest boxing class in the world in the town center square (El Zocalo) of Mexico City, as captured via video by Mexico-based multi-platform boxing reporter Erika Montoya.

Representatives from Premier Boxing Champions did not return a message seeking clarification, though it is also PBC policy to not discuss fights that are not yet announced. Ortiz’s team declined comment or even any knowledge of the date switch, though one sparring partner insisted that the Cuban heavyweight is training as if he is still fighting August 13 until hearing otherwise.

Ruiz (34-2, 22KOs) has not fought since a twelve-round decision victory over Chris Arreola in their battle of California-based Mexican heavyweights last May 1 in Carson, California.

The fight was the first for Ruiz since his two-fight series with Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22KOs) before the pandemic, having knocked out the Brit in the seventh round of their June 2019 WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight title fight at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The rematch saw Ruiz showing up grossly out of shape and dropping a lopsided decision to Joshua six months later in Saudi Arabia.

A fight with Ortiz (33-2, 28KOs) was discussed for May 2020, only for the global pandemic to shut down those plans and the sport as a whole. The fight never came back around, with Ortiz having scored two knockouts in that time—a 45-second blitzing of Alexander Flores in November 2020 and an off-the-canvas, sixth-round knockout of former IBF heavyweight titlist Charles Martin on New Year’s Day in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In between those two fights, Ortiz—a Cuban southpaw based out of Miami—was ringside for Ruiz’s win over Arreola, eager to move forward with such a fight. Those plans were curbed, only materializing earlier this year but not until after it was learned that Ruiz initially agreed to a rust-shaking fight with Tyrone Spong. The fight was announced by Triller Fight Club, who was prepared to present a July 16 PPV event from Plaza de Toros in Mexico City.

To the company’s credit, Triller immediately walked back its announcement once learning that Ruiz already committed to a fight with Ortiz that was not revealed at the time.

Sure, it has no place in the future of HW championships - that boat has sailed and promply sunk for both of them, but it will be a fun match as long as they don't expect me to pay for it..

Gotta lean toward Ruiz even though Ortiz is a decent boxer, can`t help but think that Ortiz is just too old at this point.

I had him trailing badly against Martin, and Andy is quite a bit more of a handful if he is motivated in camp.

Another change in trainers, maybe this time he can focus on diet and training?
The guy is a bit of a waste of potential. A good focused camp and he has got this, anything less and Old Man Ortiz could spark him like he did with Martin.

Andy Ruiz-Luis Ortiz To Headline September 4 Fox Sports Pay-Per-View From Crypto.com Arena

Andy Ruiz and Luis Ortiz will keep the same destination for their new fight date.

As previously reported by Boxing Scene, the heavyweight clash will top a Fox Sports Pay-Per-View event on September 4, which changed from a previously targeted August 13 date. The event will still take place at Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) officials confirmed Tuesday afternoon in the form of a ticket sale announcement.

Tickets for the event are available for pre-sale beginning Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. PT. The pre-sale will run through 10:00 p.m. PT, available for purchase on AXS.com using codes BOXING or CRYTPO.

General ticket sales will begin Thursday 10:00 a.m. PT, also on AXS.com.

To the company’s credit, Triller immediately walked back its announcement once learning that Ruiz already committed to a fight with Ortiz that was not revealed at the time.

The event marks the first Fox Sports-branded boxing telecast since February 5, when Keith Thurman outpointed Mario Barrios atop a Fox Sports PPV from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. PBC on Fox has traditionally run a pre-Labor Day card on the Sunday of the holiday weekend, though previously limited to its free-to-air Fox network.

A lead-in show on its lineal network is expected for the forthcoming event, though further details of such bouts on that portion of the PPV undercard were not made available as this goes to publish.
