Re: Canelo want usyk!
Canelo facing Usyk is a win-win situation for the Mexican regardless the outcome.
He’ll receive a massive payday and huge kudos from fight fans regardless as to whether he wins or loses.
And as much as this may upset some people, Canelo is far more experienced and has faced superior opposition than Usyk has.
If the bout happens early next year, then Usyk will be 36 years of age, without having fought around the 200lbs mark for more than four years.
Of course, Usyk would be the favourite, but Canelo only needs to be competitive to secure his status as a dead cert all-time-great.
Imagine if this bout actually happens, there’ll inevitably be some mentally-deranged people accusing the Mexican of ducking the likes of Charlo, Andrade and Benavidez!!!

I'm just arguing with my casual mate who thinks Canelo definitely wins because he's going to put 30 lbs of muscle on and walk Usyk downadislav123 wrote: ↑04 May 2022, 16:20if anybody could tell me how canelo imagines to legit win a single round against usyk i'd very much appreciate it.
Not entirely sure he knows about footwork, gassing and Usyk's history under 200 lbs.
I said the only way Canelo wins is if Usyk gets old before the fight.
Re: Canelo want usyk!
I am big Canelo fan, but Usyk is everything wrong for him. Not only Canelo definitely lose this, but Usyk can probably stop him. This is just media PR to get even more atention. Beterbiev - Smith winner, Benavidez, Charlo and Golovkin rematch, that would be guys Canelo will face after Bivol. And dont forget there is decent chance he will lose at saturday

Yup. Canelo would have a very good momentum and timing to fight a 36 y/o Usyk ( of course if Usyk beats AJ again) , who would drain down to 201 lbs. I think Canelo is experienced and polished enough to beat Usyk and that would be an ATG achievement for Canelo.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑04 May 2022, 16:53 Canelo facing Usyk is a win-win situation for the Mexican regardless the outcome.

"Canelo Alvarez on heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk: 'I like it'"
Canelo Alvarez has often sought the biggest challenges.
Canelo Alvarez has expressed an interest in fighting Oleksandr Usyk at heavyweight. The undisputed ruler at 168lbs moves up to light-heavyweight this weekend to face Dmitry Bivol, live on DAZN (except Mexico and Latin America), for the WBA title.
Despite having his hands full with the imminent threat waiting for him on Saturday night, Canelo is already dreaming of future achievements.
A move to heavyweight has long been speculated for Canelo but it appears more likely now that the Mexican icon has admitted his desire to one day face Usyk.
The Ukranian wizard currently has his hands full with a second meeting against Anthony Joshua, a bout likely for this summer, and with Canelo being boxing’s biggest draw, Usyk would surely be tempted by the challenge.
"I like it," said Canelo when speaking to ESPN ahead of his battle with Bivol.
“Why not? I'll fight everyone. I don't f---ing care.”
Hearn, Canelo’s promoter, agrees that his man would accept the fight. "I believe ‘AJ’ will win the fight, but if he doesn't, Canelo would a million percent fight at 201 pounds."
If Canelo made the eventual jump to heavyweight after winning his first world title at 154lbs, he would better the steps made by Roy Jones Jr who won his maiden world belt at middleweight.

Re: Canelo want usyk!
I’m wondering whether there’s a correlation between the news about AJ’s potential contract extension with Sky Sports and the rumours about Canelo potentially facing Oleksandr Usyk on DAZN next year.
Because two days ago, the media reported that AJ was highly likely to stay with Sky Sports, despite his own promoters’ affiliation with DAZN.
The following day, Michael Benson broke news (based on claims made by Eddie Hearn and Egis Klimas) claiming that Canelo would consider facing Oleksandr Usyk on DAZN, as long as the Ukrainian defeated Anthony Joshua.
I don’t believe in consequences, so perhaps Eddie Hearn is making a last-minute attempt to persuade AJ to join DAZN, hinting at the possibility that signing the deal might eventually provide Joshua with an opportunity to face Canelo (if he avenges his loss to Usyk)?

Canelo facing Oleksandr Usyk, or Anthony Joshua does admittedly sound incredibly farfetched.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 May 2022, 07:21 anthony joshua being tempted with a canelo fight, we are living in bizarro world![]()
Early November of last year, the prospect of Canelo unifying the 175lbs weight division, fighting Artur Beterbiev and also a cruiserweight like Ilunga Makabu seemed unrealistic, but most people genuinely all three of those things will happen within the next twelve months.
So who knows for sure what the future may hold?
It’s not as if Canelo doesn’t generate enough money to make anything he damn well wants happen.

Canelo is without doubt boxing's greatest weight bully, period.
However, all those years of being surrounded by fawning yes men have now left him severely delusional if he thinks he can beat even a weight drained Usyk.
All that's left for Canelo now is lasting glory, but alas the cheating swine will never have that.
That has to be earned, and he's never doing that.

Interestingly enough, Canelo is only an inch or two shorter than Mike Tyson.

The 2018 212lbs iteration of Deontay Wilder was definitely capable of competing as a cruiserweight. And back then, the American even expressed a desire to capture one of the world titles at that weight.IKSRTFO wrote: ↑05 May 2022, 09:02How bout Wilder? But six months ago, he was a physically ripped muscular 238lb-er and he’ll be at least 37 years of age the next time he competes (assuming he hasn’t already retired for good).
I guess this is a moot point anyway, because Wilder doesn’t currently have anything to offer Canelo.
Deontay doesn’t have a world title and Canelo can command similar paydays to what he’d probably earn against Wilder facing much easier opposition.

If Canelo faces and beats Usyk I will be the first person in here posting how wrong I was on fighters height and weight differences when skill level is equal
But I am confident Canelo is full of crap on bringing up Usyk

Re: Canelo want usyk!
To be fair, Eddie Hearn and Egis Klimas brought up the potential of a Canelo-Usyk bout.
Canelo was then asked a question about Usyk and all he said was “he’d fight anyone.”
And also, it seems that people take those words literally, because Eddy Reynoso previously mentioned the possibility to pit Canelo against Ilunga Makabu without even speaking to him.
Canelo subsequently admitted that he was surprised about Eddy even mentioning Makabu's name as a potential future opponent. He didn't even know anything about it until it was announced at the WBC's convention.

Re: Canelo want usyk!
Canelo wants Spence too.
Re: Canelo want usyk!
Look, Canelo is already just demolishing the record books and belittling over 100 years of Boxing accomplishments. But to sit here and honestly discuss Canelo fighting for the Heavyweight Championship of the world and actually foreseeing him having a great chance to win, is nutso. But it’s true. He could actually beat Usyk. In less than 6 years, he could go from 154 on up to Heavyweight without losing, collecting belts along the way, is just unheard of.
Which can be a result of 1 of 2 things: Canelo is either the greatest to ever lace em up or he’s as dirty as a boxer could be. I don’t think it could be a combo platter of the two.
At some point, we either need to award proper credit or the proper blame. When someone starts doing the impossible like this, everything must be called into question imo.

Re: Canelo want usyk!
I think Canelo could do it. He's strong and savvy enough.
He fought GGG and Jacobs at 160. He fought the SMW champions at 168. He's gonna fight LHW champions at 175. So he was fair with the weight classes.
Now, if Canelo would face Usyk at 201 lbs then we can all agree that its a fair c/w bc Canelo is a much smaller fighter.
