Unless you find some sort of a collector who’s willing to buy the whole library. That’s the best bet IMO.

There's a chance even super rare ones that sold two copies to a mum and dad could have ended up on ebay in later years from proud mum and dad.

There's also the problem that you filmed them all. Guys in Boxing Monthly simply hooked up with connections all over the world and produced compilations of top class action every month. Their lists were who's who's. Boxing Monthly just put out a disclaimer. They were active years and had no overheads. Just few videos on the go. I bet they made a bomb.

No one doubts the time you’ve spent filming everything and I’m sure there’s some excellent stuff in there. In reality though there aren’t too many people who’d be interested in paying to watch 20 year old junior ABA semi finals even if they have got some big names in them.
The monies not in people watching any old bout, it's in people wanting a copy of themselves, their brother, their dad or grandad competing at a time when video filming was in it's infancy. Some kids who had just a handful of bouts would pay an arm and a leg for a copy.

At the other end of the scale, footage and photos of fighters who have gained notoriety both inside and outside the ring have a value.

The problem with moneytising Erics video collection is the cost of getting a message out to those prospective buyers who may have no current interest in boxing and are therefore difficult to reach through forums like this and other boxing media.
It that's the case contacting each individual in the footage maybe a way to monetise it. Perhaps through facebook with a set price per bout.

Over the years on here I’ve found ERiC to be someone I don’t particularly like. He likes to talk down to regular boxing fans, often trumpeting how big a part of the sport he is. I can’t remember what the footage was now but I asked him for stuff years back and he was extortionate, he also had some stuff he said he’d never sell. His attitude was the most distasteful part about the interactions.

Like I said, anyone taking videos of folks fights in an unofficial capacity and trying to profit handsomely from them is a wank imo.

If you Google Eric Guy boxing you’ll see the go fund me he’s set up to pay his bills. His attitude clearly hasn’t worked out for him financially. He says he needs 6k but has asked for 8k I suppose in for a penny in for a pound. He wants folk to pay for not only his hobby but his bills as well. A real servant of boxing.

I tried to apologise but he likes to dish it out but not take it.

I don't agree with this. He's taken footage off his own back. It's like we once bought a picture of a house from an aeroplane and paid for it. Same sort of thing. Someone's gone out the way to offer you a service, it's therefore of value and you can buy it or pass.

Let's say you're in your 40s/50s and you once won an athletic race. Someone offers you footage of the race for £100. Allot of people with famalies may want to purchase it to show it to their kids and say 'look what your old man used to be'. On the other hand you can pass on it too.

This isn’t quite fair/correct.

Eric didn’t really operate in an unofficial capacity.

He had blanket permission from promoters up and down the country to film events. (An achievement in itself given the politics/favouritism in boxing).

In return he would oblige with requests for footage of opponents etc.

If I recall correctly, the videos he then offered to boxers who appeared on the bills he filmed were very reasonable. Maybe like £10?

He would always have a stream of boxers coming to him after a show, as unless it was on TV it was the only way they could see their fights back.

I haven’t seen Eric for years and know nothing of his current pricing or personal situation.

I can say that say ten years he was a well known figure who most people dealt with. He had access not just to fights, but gyms, sparring sessions etc. I remember seeing him around the England setup in Sheffield.

If his business is struggling, it’s because everyone has a camera now. They literally walk around with a 4K HD camera in their pockets!

How am I revelling? I’ve already donated to his page. I just explained the situation as I had been asked the question.

I work my arse off everyday to make sure I don’t end up in this position and if I do fair enough. Life’s hard for everyone.

Because of covid. I was not able to work. Over 2 years. The rent and council tax was effected. Universal credit knows all about this. I am 6k in dept. I suffer fron depression and anxiety. Which is all known to my adviser. They know i have set my go fund page to pay back rent and council tax arrears. Hope that clears up thst issue. Regarding price of videos. I used to charge £10 a fight...

Eric - definitely go to your local Citizens Advice office if you haven't already. I didn't realise how helpful they can be for people in difficulties until a relative of mine volunteered for them. And I hope things improve for you.
