The clubs boxers wanted videos of their bouts and were disappointed when there was no Videoman.

Eric offered a service that was in demand. Unlike some others who followed in his footsteps he wouldn't just cherry pick the championship rounds with lots of bouts and would happily do a show on the Saturday afternoon, then the night, then the Sunday. Ok, it was his job but there were no guaranteed sales.

Turned into a bit of a strange thread, this. Can we get back to the relative safety of discussing organised crime gangs?

Wonder what happens now to the fighters who signed up with them ,, will they have any recourse to go MTK in the courts , sure you cannot lure someone with promises , then just turn around and say ,, Oh was only kidding , were ripping up ya contract ,,, don't want to do it anymore the Police are sniffing around

Freddie Thompson was big lad on campus for a while overseeing Kinahan operations and was a big player in the Crumlin Drimnagh feud effectively wiping out the Rattigan faction

Whacker Duffy threw a spanner in the works temporarily and sent him off to Spain

To be fair there never was a more volatile and unpredictable paramilitary than the INLA, doing hits for you one second, hitting you the next

"Notorious INLA killer Declan 'Whacker' Duffy is back in Dublin and is already attempting to extort cash from other criminals.

Gardai are carefully monitoring the situation after receiving numerous reports that 'Whacker' (41) is back in the capital after spending over a year in exile at a highly-fortified house in Armagh.

Senior sources have revealed that the notorious thug has been going around in a "new cash drive" with a younger INLA criminal, who is based in the Rathmines area.

Threats

Duffy has also been spotted in the south inner city and in Tallaght.

Gardai are anxious to speak to Duffy because they want to serve official forms on him, warning the gangster that there are multiple credible threats on his life. Sources say that the most serious of these may be coming from his own former dissident republican associates who now consider the violent hood to be a "garda tout".

Investigations have established that Duffy has been going around Dublin without the back-up of his close pal Anthony 'Fanta' Gorman (43), who remains based in rural Co Cavan.

Before he fled to Armagh in August of last year, 'Whacker' had been living in Dublin since his release from prison in March, 2013, but he had to endure "credible threats" from other dissident Republicans as well as associates of the 'Fat' Freddie Thompson drugs mob and other criminal groupings.

Originally from Armagh, Duffy joined the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) in the 1980s. He was still a teenager when he was involved in the murder of Sergeant Michael Newman in Derby, England, in 1992.

It was not until July, 2010, that he was convicted and received a life sentence for this murder of the unarmed police officer, who was shot once through the side of the head at point-blank range as he reached his car.

murder

However, Duffy was released from jail last March under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. Before being convicted of that murder, Duffy had served jail time here for membership of the INLA as well as his role in the infamous Ballymount Bloodbath.

In 1999, his group took six men from a rival gang hostage and beat and tortured them in Ballymount industrial estate.

During a bitter fight, INLA man Patrick Campbell was killed by machete blows.

Duffy served nine years in prison for false imprisonment and gun possession but after his release in 2007, became involved in several gang feuds.

[email protected]

"Several me were killed in the following years in revenge for Campbell's murder and many of the remaining criminal gang is believed to have flown abroad"

Duffy was extradited back up North for the Soldier trial and Thompson is back in Dublin

The INLA have been so dysfunctional and plaged with infighting since conception they had no right to exist past the 70s but yet they have always and amazingly still maintain an element of fear and violent capability that can match anybody, these were the "Socialist beardies" at one point :salut: takes all sorts

The INLA themselves have some a few contracts for the Kinahans so Thompson was probably told to just lay it out to see if Duffy gets thrown in jail up North

It was because his killing took place pre ceasefire/ good Friday agreement you only get a certain set term for crimes committed by paramilitaries who supported the agreement, committed pre agreement. Some guys who weren't much more than pure serial killers were released, it was part of a big price to pay for the agreement
